The Wizard of Oz 3
It was a long time ago, back in my earliest days of high school. We had a project due for my drama class, and the basic idea is we had to act out a bunch of scenes from a chosen play. Many students took this premise and simply worked with a collection of scenes from any well-known work of art, Shakespeare, and the like. I, however, had a deep and passion and yearning to not merely replicate works that had been previously done, but to put my own ideas out there in the ether. I wanted more than anything to create something that was mine and share it with everyone.

Deadline
A pit of dread grew in my stomach at the looming deadline. The assignment was to write a short essay on a place or experience that touched your feelings over the holiday break. Feelings? As a seventh grader, I didn't know how to express my feelings. My world was a conundrum of my body and mind transitioning and at war. Some kids were ahead of others on life's timeline, while others, like me, lagged. Tony, a classmate who lived down the street, had zits and was shaving while my friend Randy and I remained smooth-faced. From up the street, Julie had quit the neighborhood gang and acted differently towards boys. Kelly, who lived across the street, thought Julie was acting silly and continued to hang out with us.

The Great Painting of the Sky
The sky was always beautiful to me. I have taken so many pictures of just the sky. It has always fascinated me to look at the sky at any time of day. The clouds float by, and the sun always shines brightly. The end of a long work day always brings the atmosphere for the last site before heading home. It is the one constant thing that keeps some sanity in my life. The soft colors vary from the time of day. It was a pretty painting that never ends right before my face. I can always enjoy it despite the time of year.
