Should Grades Underestimate Our Own Potential?

A beckoning thought that rarely gets confronted. It's up to us to explore its lingering message

And how failure should always act as a subtle milestone in one's life!

Young folks like me approaching their rite of passage don't always grasp the psychological 'fight-or-flight' responses that exams continuously trigger. The constant self-imposed tension of competition amongst students takes the focus away from their true interests and fixates our targets on acknowledgement. Thus, as a student who humbly acted as a victim of these beliefs, I'm willing to do what it takes to shift the mentality towards exams, and how grade comparison overall doesn't reflect a person's capabilities!

Firstly, this mindset begins with a powerful shift: never fearing failure. From the moment of birth, babies have to trip several times before getting the hang of walking, never would they consider : ''oh, I should stay on a wheelchair instead'' for the rest of their lives. That's one of the key points, failure ≠ incapable. Accepting the stumbles that await us sets us up for personal growth as part of life's major trajectories, not just for the sake of academical success, but rather as a pathway that resists the entrance to perfectionism. No creation of man-kind is a static painting, our existence is naturally drawn to slipping up. Maintaining balanced expectations does indeed guide us significantly, and the term 'balanced' varies, since everybody reaps benefits according to their own pace.

Additionally, students in particular, shouldn't be obliged to abide by the scholastic system. This isn't to say that education doesn't play a beneficial role within society, far from it! Instead, I aim to shed light on many paths that nurture one's talents. The core of my message is simple : stop relying mainly on grades as the so-called '' life-defining metric''. The persistence of this mentality pulls us away from specific areas where we'd literally outstand! Hence, while education is vital for reasoning skills, mustering the courage to discover our talents is even more crucial to live our life to the fullest.
