Rediscovering My Love for Words (A Blog from Across the Pond)
Written by Charlotte Claudius

I don’t think you can really comprehend how much you miss something until it is no longer around all the time and as a creative person it wasn’t writer's block in the traditional sense that took it away for me. But it was more of an emotional spiral that took away my emotional spark exactly 7 years ago, and in the last year I have made it my mission to revive my creative self.
For those of you that don’t know me, I launched my YouTube and Blogging journey 10 years ago, which feels like a long time now, but it was something me and my friends did together. I tried so hard to fit myself into the mold of the perfect YouTuber, doing trends and Vlogmas to get out there. Though I didn’t gain many Subscribers, it was a great creative outlet and I do miss it.

So in 2024, after turning 26, I decided this was my year to do things and recreate my idea of creativity and reboot my imagination. I had lost my spark and I was beginning to think I would never get back into things, they were for the younger and lost version of me. But I thought, why can’t I do this, why am I holding myself back?
I guess that would require me to go back to 7 years ago, I had just moved to the UK and I was at the precipice of my new life and adventures. I had always been the nice and quiet kid that never said boo to a goose, but I had my first real heartbreak and it sparked the biggest mental breakdown.
What was so bad about my mental breakdown? I truly lost myself and my creative side through this, I had no motivation, I was simply just living day in and day out. It was made worse by chasing the bad boy of course. I know what a cliche, moved away, had a mental breakdown and fell for the bad boy!
But that is what happened, and I truly believe if it wasn’t for my close friends and my now long term boyfriend I would have spiraled out of control completely.
We got together in 2016, and boy oh boy it has been my greatest adventure. Through the downs in COVID and regaining my mental strength. And the ups of traveling, moving in with each other and planning our life, he helped me to realise that being creative in any form was part of my personality.

Fast forward 7 years, and since then I have had a lot of time for personal growth. I have now taken up running, reading books and now my partner and I have moved back to Australia to reinvent ourselves and let our creative lights shine.
I have launched a new side of creativity through videos on Tiktok with short form vlogging content and I am hoping to carry on writing and taking part in things like this which really showcase the smaller creatives who struggle to get their voices out into the world.
I think sometimes we don’t know what is in store for us or if we will ever find ourselves again once we start down a certain path, but as a creative, my brain only really operates in a certain way and in turn has led me back time and time again to writing, photography, videos and many other avenues and it all brings me so much joy.
Over the next year, my aim is to be more creative and get more blogs out there. And to get creative with photography and content creation out here in Australia. There is just something about this country that brings out the creative juices in me and I cannot wait to share everything that comes out of my mind.
