Raise crows, and they’ll peck out your eyes (No good deed goes unpunished.)
This poem belongs to Chapter 2: Latin American Popular Sayings with a Soulful Adaptation

They say if you raise crows, they’ll peck out your eyes.
This makes sense to those who don’t understand giving,
only the habit of receiving.
If you feed crows without teaching them gratitude,
they’ll grow up believing that devouring your soul
is part of the feast.
They won’t know how to cherish what you gave them
or honor the bread you shared,
they’ll just come back for more,
until they rip your eyes out.
If you feed crows,
they don’t just peck out your eyes.
They’ll feed on your essence,
drink your truth,
and slowly devour your spirit.
If you plant envy,
you’ll harvest shattered mirrors.
If you sow lies,
you’ll reap a clock without hands.
It’s not punishment,
it’s cause and effect.
Don’t expect roses
if you watered thorns.
Crows live off what others leave behind,
and hunters walk the world head-on,
seeking their prey.
Be a hunter, not a crow.
Burn with purpose, not with resentment.
Because in this world,
only those who hold their light
avoid being devoured by foreign shadows.
Never let yourself be intimidated
by those who aren’t on your level.
Because even crows
fear those who burn
with courage and power.
