Prayers in a story - #9 Talented creator spotlight to Jason Ray Morton
Hands joined across the Vocal platform for continuous support and blessings for healing.

We never know when nature will select us to bear a cross of thorns
With dignity, lifting our heads high, dimly seeing through pain filled eyes
Bravely we answer the call to arms
None other than the brave soul knows the toll it asks on a mortal made of human flesh and bones

Jason narrates his struggles here:
With any journey, there are road hazards. This journey has been no different. It’s left me exhausted, frustrated, and as if I’m staring at the barrel of a loaded gun.
There is a two-step forward and five-step back cycle. It took months for them to diagnose the cancer officially, and when they did, it was about as bad as it could be. Do miracles happen?
Those are the miracles I’ve felt throughout this whole godforsaken process. When a doctor says, “You are facing a disease that will kill you”, that is a heavy thing to carry. When you start to see things turn in your favor and you see a reason to think you can beat the 75% odds against you beating cancer, it feels like God directing you toward a second chance.
When you’re young enough that you aren’t retired and drawing a pension you need an income and insurance. Income and insurance are tools for fighting a disease like cancer.
The side effects of chemotherapy are harsh and can appear at any time. Cancer patients enter into chemotherapy in the hopes of extending their shortened lifespans back to what they could have been. Nobody wants to leave their families, especially when they need us.
Thus, the paradox. The very thing that can save your life, give you a chance of beating the dreaded disease, and make you able to be there for your loved ones that need you, is also the thing that can take you out of life. Symptoms like neuropathy in your hands and feet can severely limit your abilities to work, thus costing you your income, and threatening your insurance, and everything you’ve worked your life for.
In a perfect world, nobody would find themselves facing this disease. In a better world, nobody would find themselves unable to focus on healing and beating the disease because of the high price of care and not being able to take a leave of absence from jobs and still afford to live and pay their basic bills and essentials.

If you want to lead your best life, you’ve got some thinking to do. Not much, but some. If you want Have you ever considered what life truly is to you? Why are you here? What is your real purpose? Better yet, what is your real passion? How do you find your purpose or your passion? So many people find themselves settling into a routine early in life that they never find their true purpose in life. Now, consider the question, do we have just one purpose or passion?
How We Find Ourselves
At some time in life, people go through a period of finding themselves. We’re flawed, feeling, caring, imperfect creatures. Like any flawed creature, we can get lost along our journey. What we do to find ourselves is up to us. One thing we should all do more of is dabbling.
“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re doing something.”
— Neil Gailman

Thank you for putting a spotlight on this! Selah
This is so painful not in just that his battle with cancer alone is stressful and frightening but that he is forced to work in this very messed up system. ( stateside I assume as in Europe, or at least Scandinavia we get support to fight our health battles from home). I also wonder why it takes so long to diagnose prostate cancer but every case is different. Thank you for bringing this story into the light Novel!
