To promote tourism in Thua Thien Hue and assist cruise passengers arriving at han May Port, the Thua Thien Hue Department of Tourism, in cooperation with Chan May Port JSC, has inaugurated The Visitor Information and Support Center at Chan May Port. This center enhances the region's appeal by providing an accessible, safe, and welcoming experience for visitors.
On the morning of October 25, the Department of Tourism and Chan May Port JSC officially opened The Visitor Information and Support Center at Chan May Port. It aims to provide essential information for cruise passengers and crew members docking at the port. Visitors will have access to various travel resources, including brochures, maps, guides, and multimedia content highlighting local attractions. Additionally, the center will offer advice on exploring Hue’s cultural heritage, community tourism, ecotourism, spiritual sites, traditional crafts, shopping, and wellness options.
Operational from October 25, 2024, The Visitor Information and Support Center at Chan May Port provides cruise passengers and crew with various tourism materials, such as brochures, maps, and guides. It offers travel advice on local heritage, ecotourism, traditional crafts, shopping, and wellness. The center also displays local handicrafts and specialties, assists with booking tours and services, and supports visitors with emergency needs, including lost documents or personal items.

To celebrate the opening, the Thua Thien Hue Department of Tourism and Chan May Port JSC and other relevant units welcomed the Celebrity Millennium cruise ship under Royal Caribbean’s Malta-flagged fleet. The ship docked at Chan May Port at 6:00 AM on October 25, 2024, carrying 2,150 passengers and 958 crew members. According to Chan May Port JSC, the port is set to welcome 41 cruise ships in 2024, with over 90,000 passengers and crew, having already received nearly 60,000 in the first ten months. Projections for 2025 suggest a 10-15% increase in cruises and visitors. This favorable outlook emphasizes the necessity of The Visitor Information and Support Center at Chan May Port, which serves as a vital resource for tourists and promotes Thua Thien Hue’s heritage, festivals, traditional crafts, and cuisine, along with its future status as a centrally governed city.
The Thua Thien Hue Department of Tourism is collaborating with Royal Caribbean Group and travel agencies to develop interactive and experiential tourism products for cruise passengers by 2025. This initiative aims to highlight the region’s cultural heritage, cuisine, and traditional crafts while enhancing the quality of services, particularly in shopping and entertainment.
In the first ten months of 2024, Thua Thien Hue welcomed approximately 3.25 million visitors, with projected revenue reaching around 6.5 trillion VND. The goal for the year is to attract 4 million tourists, generating 7.5 to 8 trillion VND in total revenue.
