Off Where?
Friday 13th June, Day/Story #24 - a Drabble for Shirley Belk's unofficial challenge
Once upon a time, I didn't know what sour milk tasted like. Imagine that!
I had dark hair, big eyes, and a button nose I turned up at everything...
Food is... tricky. Too hot, or cold. Watery. Slimy. It has skin.
New mum is Strict. If something tastes bad, you gotta eat it anyway. I hate mealtimes. They take ages.
Breakfast is usually ok, but today, my cornflakes taste wrong.
Grown-ups tut. "Picky!" "Slow!" I eat another flake, trying not to gag.
They sigh. "Why didn't you say the milk was off?!"
I don't know what that means.

Word count, without author's note: 100 words I think
I reworked an old micro for this one. Not sure if I should make the author's note longer, to hit a minimum word count? I don't think there's a Microfiction tag in the Writers community. What the hey, I'll try it and see what happens.

Unlike Sandy, I do know what sour milk tastes like. Really well done!
Lol, didn't she smell the milk before she poured it on your cereal? I'm happy to say, I still don't know what sour milk tastes like.
Oh, stepmoms can be sooooo cruel
I like the perspective this is written from...the relatable feelings of a child. Perception is a big deal. To write it, is to bring that portal to the reader and take the chance they might wanna jump in.
Ewww, sour milk 🤮🤮🤮
Ugh. I could taste that.
'Cause you told me I was just being picky. Sheesh!
