Chennai: Pa. Vijay's film Agathea stars Jeeva, Raashi Khanna and Arjun in the lead roles. There have been many fantasy films in Tamil cinema that explore past and buried supernatural events. Did the film Agathea, which is made in the same style, attract the audience? Let's see if it tested it.

Plot: Art director Jeeva sets up a set for a shoot in a dilapidated bungalow in Pondicherry. Due to some problems that occur there, the shoot does not take place. Jeeva, who is upset about this, is given the idea by actress Raashi Khanna to run a scary house in the bungalow to earn money. The scary house, which is well received by the people, mysteriously disappears from the councilor's son. Later, the scary house is closed.

Many supernatural things happen in the Scary House. Then Jeeva finds an old reel, in which Arjun appears as a Siddha doctor. The story moves to the 1940s. Who is Arjun there? What was he doing? What is his connection with this palace? Did Jeeva save his mother's life? How have they portrayed the glory of Siddha medicine? Director Pa Vijay has given the answer to all these questions in the second half.

Jaihind Arjun: Even though it is a Jeeva film at the beginning, it becomes an Arjun film as the story progresses. Arjun has carried the film on his shoulders and attracted the fans. Should Arjun be taught about patriotism? Arjun, who plays Siddharth, is a doctor with a Tamil background and carries the pride of being an Indian on his shoulders. He has understood the strength of his character well and lived as that character. The romantic chemistry with Jacqueline, who plays opposite him, has worked out a little. Since Arjun carried the original story, it is a bit sad for the fans that she appears as the hero of the story in the film.

Director's Touch: Director Pa. Vijay's attempt to make the story set in 1940 historical is commendable. In particular, the names of the characters in the film are associated with Tamil literature and Tamil patriotism, and it is wonderful to hear names like Jacqueline Poovizhi, Siddharthan, and Agathiyya Meena. Moreover, it gives a deep thought to the connection between Tiruvannamalai and Siddha medicine. Director Pa. Vijay's effort to make the Tamil Siddha medicine, which is the essence of the story, known to the world is highly commendable. The reference scenes in the 1940s like Bharathidasan, Ambedkar, Dhewamalai Srinivasan, and Murasoli are enjoyable.

Yuvan Missing: Yuvan Shankar Raja did not give a big effort to the songs in the music. He only gave his unique touch in the background music in a few places and made it enjoyable. As Pradeep says in the film Love Today, we seem to want the old Yuvan. Except for the song En Iniya Pon Nilave, all the other songs are mediocre. The film has given the viewers a test like what happened to Yuvan.

Actress Radha Ravi: The scenes where VTV Ganesh and Yogi Babu open the scary house 15 minutes into the story are full of laughter. Radha Ravi's good performance as a ghost adds strength to the film. Her role in the film Sangili Pungili Kootu Tira attracted attention. She makes the film laugh throughout in a different way. The scenes where she talks politics with a mix of comedy and sarcasm are fulfilling.

Weakness: Pa. Vijay has directed a story that has been seen in many films. Some scenes were like reading WhatsApp messages. For fans who have seen the film, we need to know whether this is a horror film or a fantasy film. At one point, Jeeva gets confused about what is happening here, which also confuses the viewers. A flashback within a flashback makes you fight. He has given a plot that should have been interesting very simply.

Actors: Except for one scene where Raashi Khanna plays a ghost, everything else is as beautiful as an actress. Apart from that, she has no work to do in the film. The stars including Edward, who played the villain, Charlie, who played the father, and Rohini, who played the mother, have also made their characters very strong in the film. Jeeva melts when she says "mother". Mother melts in sentiment.

Vaitheeswari: Even though Abhirami's role as a Siddha Vaidyachi comes and goes for a minute, she looks like a goddess to the eyes. With the decline in the number of Saami films, it would not be surprising if a Saami film based on her comes out. Vaitheeswari's scenes are breathtaking.

Special: The last 20 minutes of the film are on par with Marvel films. They have made it amazing with VFX. It would have been even better if the excitement in the climax had been there throughout the film.
