Before my grandfather passed away, he didn’t leave his business empire to my parents but instead forced it upon me—a person who only ever wanted a peaceful life. All because my mother was infamous in high society for her promiscuity, while my father was a well-known playboy. Their marriage was arranged by their families, a business deal, and after I was born, they each went on to live their own separate lives.
To outsiders, they always put on a show of loving me dearly, but behind my back, they schemed to take the inheritance my grandfather left behind. However, I had never considered them worth my attention. But when I returned from a six-month trip, I discovered that my family had gained new members.
My father brought home a girl—the daughter of his late first love. Meanwhile, my mother went even further and introduced two illegitimate children of her own. In the past, I never cared about their personal lives, as I was raised by my grandfather and had no real attachment to them. But now that their true intentions to fight for the inheritance have become clear, they can’t blame me for revealing the ruthless side of myself.
Stepping into the house, I immediately noticed the butler's awkward expression. I didn’t even need to ask to know that my parents were up to something again.
Hearing voices coming from the dining room, I walked over and saw five people sitting around the table. Two of them, of course, were my parents. My father had a dignified appearance but was actually a seasoned playboy. My mother looked like an elegant noblewoman, but in reality, she was no better.
Seated next to my father was a young woman in her early twenties, pure and beautiful. No introduction was needed—I knew exactly who she was because her face was identical to that of my father’s late first love. Meanwhile, the two people sitting beside my mother were also around twenty years old. They weren’t bad-looking, but when our eyes met, I could see the blatant provocation in their gazes. These must be the illegitimate children she had brought home.
“Ah, Từ, you're back? Come, sit down and have dinner!”
My mother immediately stood up and pulled out a chair for me.
My father let out a cold snort.
“Gone for so long, and now that you’re back, you don’t even know how to greet us? Did you swallow all the etiquette your grandfather taught you?”
I lazily sat down.
“Swallowed it, turned it into waste, and then let you eat it.”
A servant immediately came over with a bowl of water for me to wash my hands.
“You're truly unfilial! How can you speak to Uncle like that?”
The one who spoke was Vương Hạo, my mother’s eldest son from her affair.
His younger brother, Vương Tuyên, chuckled coldly.
“I heard you were born rotten. Truly one of a kind—you come back and immediately feed your old man crap?”
I merely smirked, not bothering to respond. Instead, I turned my gaze to the girl sitting beside my father. Perhaps my stare was too intense, because Thẩm Thanh Mạt, the beautiful young woman, shrank back in fear, lowering her head and avoiding eye contact.
My father slammed the table in anger.
“What the hell are you trying to do?”
I suddenly chuckled and asked him:
“Are you absolutely sure that Thẩm Thanh Mạt is not your biological daughter?”
“Of course not! She’s Thẩm’s daughter. After her mother passed away, there was no one to take care of her, so I brought her home.”
My father looked at me warily, as if he was afraid I might devour her.
I smirked slyly.
“Father, I know Aunt Thẩm was probably your greatest regret in life, but I don’t think regrets from the previous generation should be carried over to the next. Thanh Mạt is quite pretty—why don’t you let her be my wife instead?”
The moment I finished speaking, my father’s face turned as dark as the bottom of a pot. Thẩm Thanh Mạt was so frightened that her eyes turned red, on the verge of tears.
Right at that moment, Vương Hạo suddenly slammed his bowl on the table and stood up, pointing at me in fury.
“Tạ Từ! Are you looking to die?! Do you have any idea how long I’ve been pursuing Thanh Mạt?!”
Ha! This family is already a mess, and now it’s getting even more chaotic.
I laughed to myself. So my mother’s illegitimate son is in love with my father’s first love’s daughter?
But where did this idiot Vương Hạo get the confidence to point fingers at me? I ignored him and turned to my mother with a mocking smile.
“Mother, aren’t you going to control your bastard sons?”
My mother chuckled softly, then gave me a conciliatory smile.
“Hạo Hạo really did pursue Thanh Mạt first. Can you not be so harsh? Just do me this favor, okay?”
“Mother, you don’t need to humble yourself in front of him.”
Vương Tuyên stood up and spoke coldly.
“In the past, we weren’t by your side, so he got to act however he wanted. But now that we’re back, he’ll have to bow down before us!”
Vương Hạo seized the opportunity and added,
“That’s right! And another thing—go notify the company. Arrange positions for us! I’ll be the CEO, and my brother will be the vice president!”
Hearing this, I raised an eyebrow, my eyes narrowing as I grinned.
“Alright, I’ll arrange it.”
If they were just causing trouble, I wouldn’t have cared. But the moment they set their sights on the company, it was clear they were after money.
Before taking his last breath, my grandfather held my hand tightly and warned me:
“Tiểu Từ, you must keep a firm grip on the company. If you don’t, your heartless parents will abandon you without hesitation.”
If this were a cliché novel, this would be the part where they dared to touch my reverse scale.
“Alright then, just wait and see.”
