How Genuine are A.I. Generated Articles?

Artificial Intelligence is growing and getting better by the day. Should writers take advantage?

It's only in its infancy. Those who use it are barely scratching the surface of its capabilities as they experiment with its many applications. Some will get proficient at using it for one thing or another, but they will never fully grasp it. It's impossible. New applications and upgrades come too quickly. There will always be untapped potential.

As far as writing goes

Using A.I. To gather hours worth of research in a matter of seconds can be extremely useful. But to trust A.I. on the accuracy of what it produces would be a mistake. It all must be verified.

Using A.I. to write actual articles or stories or even poetry might seem clever. Some might think being able to consistently crank out articles in record time and with little effort as a no-brainer.

In my way of thinking it is a no-brainer in that it doesn't take much of a brain to post a query and get others to do your writing for you. I say 'others' because that's pretty much what A.I. does.

A.I. gathers its query response from sources on the web. It's the only place it can get them. The results you get from an A.I. query is nothing more than a compilation of snippets of writings from other people.

If you actually use the material you get as the sole source of your article and do nothing more than rearrange it to fit your needs, doesn't that make your article a plagiarized article? Isn't that illegal?

Changing or adding a few words here and there doesn't make the article original and it certainly doesn't make the author a good writer.

If you don't think this happens, believe me it happens on every writing platform. Even on this one.

If you don't believe me, check it out for yourself. Here's a link to an A.I. detector. Just copy and paste an article and it will tell you what percentage of the article is probably A.I. Generated. Is it 100% accurate? I doubt it but I'm willing to bet it's close. (Personally it also gives me the names of unauthentic authors I plan to avoid).

For an article to be original, the author needs to use their own brain and hard work, not other peoples brains and hard work.

As far as I'm concerned, an A.I. generated article or story is fake writing. Trying to pass it off as original writing is a misrepresentation of the author and their work at best.

I realize A.I. is here to stay and it will only keep getting better. As long as there are ways to cheat, steal, game or in some way take advantage of a system, there will be people who do just that. We are who we are. I don't believe there will ever be a way to put a stop to it.

My final thought: A.I. should be used as a tool, not a crutch. If you can't do your own writing, maybe writing isn't for you.

I'd love to know what you think on writers using A.I. or at the very least, passing off their final piece as their own. Please leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
