Home: Where Solitude Blooms
The Journey Back to Self

She left behind the city,
its tangled streets,
the rhythm of deadlines and laughter echoing through crowded rooms.
Five years of belonging,
faded into a suitcase,
zipped tight with questions she couldn’t answer.
Her parents’ new home stood waiting,
with walls unfamiliar,
and windows that opened to silence.
The town was hushed, its people distant, its life muted.
She missed the city’s pulse,
her friends’ voices,
their shared stories of triumphs and failures.
Text messages felt thin,
like whispers through a closed door.
She wandered alone,
searching for a piece of herself she’d left behind.
The trail behind the house led her to stillness,
a pond mirroring the sky,
inviting her to pause.
Her thoughts unleashed,
like the breeze teasing the trees.
Here, the noise of who she should be
fell away,
and she began to hear her own voice.
Her parents’ gentle love wrapped around her,
in shared meals,
stories of their youth,
the soil they tended together.
The solitude grew soft,
no longer a shadow but a friend,
teaching her the art of being whole.
Loneliness faded,
replaced by a sense of peace.
She realized,
that coming back
wasn’t about returning—
it was about starting afresh.
In the silence, she found herself—
a girl who could stand still,
breathe deeply,
and embrace the beauty
of simply being.
