It’s a continuous battle for me. heart wants love, brain wants respect and I want the both but I can only get one. Not because it’s a law, but the subject in question made it a choice. so many of us go through this tug, some let the heart win and others let the brain. I’ll listen to the both and make my judgment. Starting from my heart, dear heart what’s your take?

Heart

They hurt you once. Everybody deserves a second chance because nobody’s perfect. You can’t let the way people treat you change your personality besides you care about this person remember.

To my brain, thine opinion,

Brain

You would never win this fight. Stop fighting a battle that’s already lost. You should realize the point your love has become an offense and brings nothing but disrespect. Love yourself enough to dignify yourself. Know when to wait or walk away, now’s the time to walk away.

Heart (interrupts)

you can’t live without this person!

Brain: wat do you mean? the basic needs of life is God, food, money and shelter. This person is none of these things and you were doing just fine before you both met.

Heart : do you want to get hunted and tortured by the beautiful memories? When you can just live the moment?

Brain: better to live in the memories of an expired love, than in the moment of a painful one. you’ll cry and none would wipe away your tears.

heart: but at least I’ll go on just like Celine dion’s song about me.

Me:

the heart will go on and on…

I chose to live the moment instead of the memories. I’m sorry brain, you and the heart are different organs with different specialties. I’ll holla at you only when I need to study.

(Follow your heart if it’s ideas may bring you peace. There’s no harm in loving. You don’t have to be logical in everything. But if they choose to hurt you in the end, it doesn’t define who you are. At least you followed your heart. At least for once in your life you genuinely loved ❤️)
