Great Serial Stories You MUST Read!!
Horror, dark fantasy, and a little slice of Sci-Fi

This past week, I made the decision to put my new novel on Substack. I had always planned to serialize it and had made a blog for that specific purpose. After testing the waters with Substack, I was amazed at how quickly my audience grew, so I decided to pull the trigger and put Nerve Damage on there, too. I also found out that there were a lot of other authors putting their serial novels on Substack, so here are 5 that caught my eye.
A Procession of Ashes by A.M. Blackmere

This one is still relatively new and is 3 chapters in at the time of writing. One of the reasons why it stands out for me is that it is something of an uncommon story in the horror genre. I can’t think of a single medieval horror tale, and while I am sure they exist, this definitely feels unique.
All You Can Eat by Chris Hicks

This is being released as an 8-part serial novella, and once again, it has a plot that is incredibly original. It is about a family that owns an all you can eat restaurant who end up in servitude to a Hindu demon. How very cool is that?

I am more than a little excited to dive into this story, as it appears to check all the boxes of what I love to read in horror. Something evil is brought to life after the brutal slaying of a teenage girl in Oklahoma. There are several trigger warnings listed, so be aware of those before diving in.
Project Jonah by Kyle Harrison

Perfect timing here, as the author just released the first chapter the day prior to the writing of this article. If you are a fan of creature features, then this might well be the one for you.
Hunter’s Moon by The Autumn Star

While I tend to focus on horror, I can also be talked into a little bit of dark fantasy. This is exactly what you will get from Hunter’s Moon by the Autumn Star. I haven’t started this one yet, but I have read their work and can guarantee that you will enjoy this one.

A hearing-impaired man left alone on a mysterious island, where he is house sitting for a friend. If that doesn’t scream the potential for truly creepy horror, then I don’t know what does. I am hoping for a slow descent into madness, but from what I have seen of this story, I also expect to be surprised.

I do enjoy an epistolary tale, as you very often get to see the story put together via different perspectives. The author is releasing select little snippets, that, for me at least, makes it feel as though I am putting together a very cool puzzle.
Black Coffee by Seraphim George

The author is a little tight-lipped on the direction this story is going to take, and I am here for it. The opening chapter takes place in a diner with a cup of coffee that never grows cold. That seems like joy for those of us who love caffeine, but it also hints at something not quite right about to go down.
The Chronicles of Roxie Vega by Angelique Fawns

Roxie seems like a character we can all get behind and root for. A girl that loves gambling, men, and drinking, while also piloting a space transport ship. The author has several Roxie tales already penned, so why not jump in and follow her on what are sure to be rollicking adventures.
I hope you guys can all find at least one story that you like, although I’m sure some of you are going to have a problem narrowing it down to just one. I will keep these coming as I run across them on Substack. The writing over there is amazing and needs more eyes.
