A Longing in Verses — Writing Challenge Day 3

How could you question me about something I willingly gave you?

It’s not a question of trust when I couldn’t turn my back against all we’ve been,

How could you make unloving so easy?

A love I deserve — a mad joke! How foolish to believe a man

who can’t even choose someone who puts him above all else

Common as a rock, what a sight

An oath to stay, a tempting invite!

Where can a man go to gain strength — enough to proclaim a thing he knew he opted not to do?

And make — what made me believe?

My scars are not exclusive to art

Things that are left when things so deep leave me

How dare I use it to paint?

Rainbows demand no applause

There is more to love than contrasts;

good and bad; right and wrong,

knowing and choosing — always, over and over

for the same person

Truth is, there is no movement in moving on

we could love again but we know it will all be different

to bear the loss and hope — hope that our souls

can find the place where flowers bloom in graves

Well-wrought! The flower loves the sun, but never the twain shall meet beyond the distant union of light and life. A parable.
