Rupi Kaur's Relationship Writing Prompts - Would you still be friends with certain people if you met them at a different time in your life?

In 1978, I started my recovery from the family illness of alcoholism. I made friends that grew up like I did. Just a few years prior, they probably would not be my friends. Most when new in recovery had a love-hate relationship with the alcoholics in their life.

Two years into my recovery, I discovered I was one of those addicted to drugs and alcohol. This question about still being friends with certain people if I met them at a different time feels easy for me.

If they are actively drinking and using drugs addictively now, I would not be with them enough to make friends. And they wouldn't want to spend sober time with me, or attend sober functions.

I have had co-workers that had a problem with drugs and alcohol. A few I talked with about their drinking, but we didn't get to be friends, friendly co-workers yes. I don't regret any past friends or current friendships I have now.

There are others in recovery that I can't imagine hanging out with as friends when they were drinking. As a matter of fact, my current husband was referred to as a Bena boy. He grew up on the reservation and they were known hell raisers and my mother told me and my sister to stay away from the Bena boys.

Before I married my husband, my mother said, "I have no problem with that Bena boy as long as he makes you happy and I can see that he does!" He had ten years in recovery from drugs and alcohol when I started seeing him. We have been together now since 2000.

Rupi Kaur's Relationship Writing Prompts - Describe the sexiest moment you've shared with someone.

My first husband was six years older than me. He had life experience when I met him. He had only recently gotten out of the Navy. He taught me a lot about love, tenderness, and loving. After we got engaged we had the sexiest night of my life. No details of that night here however.

My experience was being a virgin prior to my engagement. Other times with him that would fall in line with this was the birth of our children. So much love, experiencing those occasions together. With him there and by my side. Then watching him with others. He was a gentleman.

My husband now is the sexiest man in my life because of how he looks at me. I can melt into his arms with his look alone.

Rupi Kaur's Relationship Writing Prompts - How would you like your partner to describe you to others?

My soulmate comes to mind. My love, my best friend. It doesn't have to be much as people can tell by watching us together. We have fun, joke and laugh together.
