Eye for an Eye, Tooth for a Tooth
This poem belongs to Chapter 2: Latin American Popular Sayings with a Soulful Adaptation. (When you understand that every action you take returns to you, shaping your path.)

This saying dates back to ancient times,
from warriors and laws seeking balance.
The idea was clear:
the harm you cause will be returned in equal measure.
The harm you cause to another’s eye
could blind your own.
In this universe, every action has a reaction,
and justice is understood as proportional punishment.
But it’s not just imposed law or punishment.
It is a universal law,
the wise voice of life itself warning you.
There are lost souls acting without conscience,
wounded by the past or external pain,
forgetting this ancient truth
and hurting others without measuring consequences.
But you, reading this, must be brave.
You must listen to your deep soul
and understand that every harm you inflict
can come back to you in the same measure…
or maybe multiplied.
The path isn’t easy,
but if you have the courage to make the right choices,
you can avoid losing your teeth.
That cycle of eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth,
is not just about avoiding punishment,
but about healing, growing,
and choosing love over revenge.
Because true strength
lies in the soul’s intelligence,
knowing when to act
and when to forgive.
Be wise and brave
and always remember this:
Everything you do,
no matter how much you try to ignore or justify it,
will come back to you, one way or another.
Not as punishment,
but through the great laws of the universe…
that never fail.
Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.
