In partnership with Book Aid International (BAI), The Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) has donated books to school libraries in Juba totaling 47 cartons containing a total of 2,153 books across various categories, including teacher training, professional business and finance, secondary education, and children’s literature.

The two beneficiary schools including Ashwood Comprehensive School in Luri Payam and Glorious Baptist Academy in Rejaf of Juba County collected their consignments on Wednesday, 16th October 2024.

While Ashwood Comprehensive School received 26 cartons containing 1,151 books, Glorious Baptist Academy received 21 cartons containing 972 books.

Both schools expressed their gratitude for the generous donations, highlighting how these books will help enhance the learning and teaching experience for their students and teachers.

“On behalf of Glorious Baptist Academy, I would like to thank the Excellence Foundation for the wonderful and amazing books. We really appreciate it,” said Vicky Acen a teacher at the school.

The librarian at Ashwood Comprehensive School conveyed her appreciation to the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan and emphasized the ongoing need for more quality books, as public libraries continue to face shortages. This donation marks a significant step towards improving educational resources in South Sudan and fostering a culture of reading and learning in the community.

Kakembo Noah, a senior staff at Ashwood Comprehensive School said, “On behalf of Ashwood Administration and entire student's body I wish to extend our sincere appreciation towards the just received books. Your efforts towards this call cannot go unnoticed. May God bless you abundantly.”

Staff members from Alekma Academy and Juba Diplomatic School also each received some books in the form of novels – 05 and 13 respectively.

Emmanuel Karaba Ezra, Interim Executive Director at the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan says that the books will also support the establishment of reading clubs in the beneficiary schools to inculcate the culture of reading.
