A team of three adjudicators and a time manager sourced by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) have concluded support to Advance South Sudan and UNDP in an inter-university debate as part of a transitional justice awareness project pushing for Chapter V of the Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan (ARCISS) in Juba this week.
Mawa Minga, John Ayuen, Farida and Emmanuel Bida constituted the team that worked with the debaters and organisers from Monday, 22nd to Friday, 26th July 2024 at Glory Regency Hotel.

The University of Juba and The Catholic University of South Sudan debated on whether the Commission for Truth, Reconciliation and Healing (CTRH) should prioritise reconciliation over truth-telling in its efforts during the opening debate session on Monday, 22nd July 2024 whereas the Upper Nile University and Starford University argued about whether reparation should be on community or the individual basis on Tuesday, 23rd July 2024.
Both the University of Juba and Upper Nile went through to the Grand Finale on Friday, 26th July 2024 where argued about the role of traditional courts in the truth, reconciliation and healing process.
The University of Juba emerged champion.

“We thank the adjudicators for their professional work and for being with us throughout the competition this week,” said Luate Satimon Joel, Programme Officer at Advance South Sudan.
At EFSS, we believe in the power of effective collaboration to achieve even greater success in project implementation because partnership is the new leadership.
