The Excellence Foundation for South Sudan, known in short as EFSS, has launched a podcast for school-going children called “Talk Time with Little Scholars’’ to provide a platform for pupils in kindergarten and primary schools to discuss a variety of important topics, hence fostering dialogue and promoting understanding among young voices in the community.
“This podcast not only serves as a valuable resource for children but also fosters dialogue and understanding of diverse viewpoints from the participants,” said Emmanuel Bida, the organisation’s Program Manager.
Bida says that providing children with a platform to discuss their thoughts and ideas through Talk Time with Little Scholars contributes to the efforts of other partners in equipping the next generation and encourages them to engage with important societal issues, thereby creating a sense of agency and leadership.
“As they learn to articulate their views on current affairs, education, peacebuilding, technology and social life, they become well-rounded and informed citizens,” he added.
Angelina Adut Akech is the producer of the podcast. She says that the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan envisions Talk Time with Little Scholars as a sustainable project designed to be self-sufficient in the long term.
“With the support of dedicated volunteers and partner schools, the podcast aims to produce high-quality content that resonates with its young audience,” she said.
Adut explained that the initiative not only enriches the lives of children but also builds a sense of community and shared responsibility amongst the next generation.
