Recently, Dr. Williams, an Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat Physician), moved to Nashville, TN, and established Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists of Nashville, a surgical clinic. Apart from starting his own surgical practice on the Southern Hills Medical Center campus, he also founded the Voice Care Center of Nashville, where he treats and prevents voice issues in Christian and Gospel music artists. He is also an adjunct assistant professor at Meharry Medical College. Dr. Williams has a deep understanding of the numerous spiritual effects of voice problems in addition to the medical and surgical ramifications. He is also an independent gospel recording artist.
Williams struggled with the possibility that his chosen medical specialty—at the time, either cardiac surgery or neurosurgery—would make it impossible for him to carry out the ministry he had been called to. Otolaryngology was recommended by a colleague during his doctoral studies. After much prayer, it became clear that the best way to combine music, ministry, and medicine would be to treat voice issues and provide information on vocal care.
"I have been greatly blessed with the ability to teach the body of Christ about the value of the voice—not just for vocalists, but for every believer,” Williams says. At the Gospel Announcers Guild Conventions, Beyond Potential Music Gathering, I.M.A.C. Conference, Bobby Jones Gospel, TCT TV, Airplay 360 Ezine, and The Dove Awards, Williams has led seminars, given presentations, and been featured. Williams' main objective is to teach preachers, presenters, and singers good vocal technique and voice hygiene in order to help them avoid voice issues and eventually improve worship.
