Creating a Writing Space
It's good to have a spot that will help you focus.

Let's not beat around the bush. Writing is difficult. Not only is it hard to come up with topics to write about sometimes, but frequently sitting down and just writing is just as hard. You could have all the ideas for a good novel, poem, or article. You can have the drive to want to write, and you can have the technology and the material to write, but sometimes, it's about something other than what you have; it can be the environment that you are in.
Think about it. When you are at work or handling a task, you are in an environment where you can focus on the task and get it done. They may have you behind the front desk or a cubicle for jobs. This even applies to doing things around the house. You won't mix ingredients in the bathroom or bedroom when you want to cook. You will use the kitchen; the same can be said for writing.
You can have the ideas and the best laptop with the best programs and publications for writing, but nothing will happen if you can't focus, so a writing space for many is essential. Some have the space at home to create their own office. Whenever they need to work or work on writing, they go there. Some decide to visit a spot where they know they feel productive, such as a library or a computer lab. While these spots are good, not everyone has the time and even the gas to go to a place every day or the majority of the week to write. This is where you create your writing space.
The writing space doesn't have to be big. It can be the corner of the room or the basement, but once you find a spot you believe will work, you will begin the hard part. That is filling that space with what you need to write. Sometimes, you just need a desk, and you're ready to go, but everyone is different, and some people need different things to feel motivated to write. You may light a candle, put on some music, or buy a desk or a chair, but do what you must to make that space comfortable for you to write.
For example. In my home, I have a corner of my room where I write. I have a nice desk that holds my laptop, a few notebooks, pencils, pens, hand lotion, bottled water, wax melter, and a desk light. At that desk, I have a relaxing chair that I put together. Personally, I like to have music and rain when I write. However, I don't like music with lyrics while I work because I know it will distract me, and I will end up singing the lyrics. I tend to play soundtracks from my favorite video games and anime. In fact, you can find many hour-long soundtracks of this music with rain in the background on YouTube. I have a few that I created a playlist for, and I put it on while I do whatever in my room. I also mentioned the wax melter. I have a few melts that I use sometimes to add a pleasant smell to the room and make it more relaxing. Lastly, I have LED lights in my room. When I write, I don't like it to be bright, but I also don't like it when it is too dark, so I set a specific light setting that I have Alexa turn on for me. It may sound like a lot, but when I have those things ready, I am able to sit and write for hours.
Having a space dedicated to writing will not only help you motivate yourself to write but also give you a space where you feel like you can get the job done. Everyone is different, so while you can look up ideas for a writing space, the best thing is to create it yourself because no one else knows what motivates you better than you.
