The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a warning on Thursday regarding the increasing number of respiratory illnesses, such as flu, RSV, and COVID-19. They expressed concern that hospitals may have to prioritize care if hospitalizations continue to rise. According to the CDC, pediatric hospitals in certain areas of the country are already reaching capacity levels similar to last year. If this trend persists, it will put a strain on emergency departments and hospitals.
The CDC emphasized that this strain on the healthcare system could result in delays for patients with other serious health conditions who require care. They also highlighted that the peak of respiratory illness activity is yet to come. This warning comes after CDC director Mandy Cohen released a video last week, providing guidance on winter precautions, including the use of masks, as the Pirola clan surpasses previously dominant COVID-19 variants.
In order to mitigate the impact of respiratory illnesses, the CDC urged all Americans, especially those over the age of 60, to get vaccinated against COVID-19, influenza, and RSV. They stated that increased vaccination rates would likely lead to fewer hospitalizations and ultimately save lives.
During his speech at a campaign event held at the Whittemore Center Arena in Durham, New Hampshire on Saturday, Donald Trump delivered a speech that drew criticism for its resemblance to Hitler's rhetoric. Trump's remarks, although slightly rephrased, echoed sentiments expressed by Hitler in his book Mein Kampf. Speaking to a crowd of MAGA supporters, Trump stated, "We have a significant amount of work ahead of us. They are contaminating the essence of our nation," which bears a striking resemblance to Hitler's quote: "All great civilizations of the past perished solely because the originally creative race died out due to blood contamination."
Furthermore, Trump went on to say, "They contaminate mental institutions and prisons worldwide. This issue is not limited to South America or a few specific countries; it is a global problem. People are entering our country from Africa, Asia, and various parts of the world. They are flooding into our nation, and nobody is paying attention to them; they simply come in."
