Beehives

What's inside the beehive

By tariro chimbaPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

The honeycombs are made of beeswax and store food, pollen, and honey. They also contain eggs, larvae, and pupae. The combs are attached to the walls and stretch from top to bottom with narrow passageways. Honey is stored in the upper part of the comb, while pollen is stored beneath. Eggs for worker bees are in some cells, and drone eggs are at the bottom. Finding the queen bee is difficult. Most of the bees in the hive are workers, and they have different tasks. Bees perform a dance to communicate about nectar sources. The dance indicates the distance and richness of the source. The angle of the dance shows the direction of the nectar. The bees bring back the nectar and do a shake dance to prompt others to go forage. The nectar is ripened into honey.
