An Easter Story

I know that Valentine's Day is tomorrow, and Easter is still a month or so away. but for some reason I am in an Easter mood. As children we saw Easter as the holiday that the Easter bunny came to our house as Santa Claus comes at Christmas but instead of wrapped presents, for he leaves us Easter baskets filled with candies and toys. We see cute bunnies and chicks pop up everywhere as well. As we grow up and become adults we begin to see and remember the real reason for Easter. This is the day that the Lord has risen after being crucified, dead and buried for three days. We are to see that he gave his life for us and our sins.

Valentine's is the day for Love, but Easter is the day for love, faith, joy, hope and charity to show each other in one or many ways. Do you remember as a child when your parents would take you to church all dressed up in new clothes after you have hunted all over the house in search of the Easter basket the Easter bunny has hidden the night before. As you arrive at church you see your friends and off to Sunday school as your parents' head to an early kind of sunrise service for them before the main church service. We usually sat in the front well the third or fourth pew back from the pulpit and had to look up and over all the adults who sat in front of us. I remember we were always kind of hyper for we were allowed one piece of Easter candy along with whatever we had for breakfast which was usually some kind of oatmeal or cereal before we went to church. It was hard sitting for that hour or so on those hard pews back then for at that time the minister seemed to only speak to the adults on their level. Now-a-days the preacher actually includes children and youth messages during the service.

Easter is the day that we should remember what is really important to us and all. We should show charity in trying to help others more even if they do not help you. In showing joy, we should make observations on what we see from the birds singing in the morning or just being able to see another day. In showing faith, we need to also maybe include some good works as in maybe helping out more in some ways and to show more understanding and maybe even listening to each other better. In showing love, we should be willing to just accept who we are with all our faults. Finally, in dealing with hope we can all just hope that having love, faith, joy, charity that we may see a new world begin.

Easter is the time to remember the reason why Jesus gave of himself, but we are only human and not perfect, and we make mistakes in all areas and hopefully we learn from them. So, as you all celebrate this current day of love tomorrow remember there is another day coming up where we can all show each other that we do have faith and good works and that we do or at least try to understand the real reason behind this special day that is given to us to show how faith, joy, hope, charity and love all work together in this world we live and it will probably not be easy.

Wishing a month or so early that you all have a Very Happy Easter!!!!

A good reminder that we are still alive and hold on to traditions. Every coming day should be a day of love for all. I always desire holidays to feel resurrection in my heart again and again. Nice work!
