5) Janamastami

Birthday of Lord Krishna is celebrated with great bang here and by making pyramids people do break dahi handis as mark of respect on the next day. On the midnight there are lot of bhajans and kirtans. Young girls do even wear lehenga choli and other ethnic wear in these functions.

6) Ganesh Chaturti

The elephant headed god is one of the favorites for millions of people. In this 11 day festival people leave no stone unturned to praise lord Ganesha. Usually mud or clay idol is bought at home or public pandal. People gather and celebrate these 10 days with lot of pomp and vigor. On the 10th day or 11th day immersion of the idol is done. As a part of celebrations, guests are being called at home; generally people love to wear ethnic wear. 7) Eid

In this 10 day of festival many people observe fast, there are feasts and obvious thing to get the blessing from divine. Generally this festival is celebrated by Bengalis and women in this festival do prefer wearing white and red border cotton silk sarees.

10) Navratri

The festival of divine, faith and joy. This 9 days worshipping of goddess is done and even fast is observed. In this festival Women, men and kids of all age groups to go play Garba or dandiya. Many women here prefer wearing colorful chaniya choli.

11) Onam

Generally this festival is celebrated with great pomp. In certain parts of India it is worth to see the boat dance. In this festival people are happy and celebrate the homecoming of legendary king Mahabali.

12) Baisakhi

Generally this festival is celebrated to harvest of the rabi crops. Worth to see is the local dances like Bhangra and gidda. This festival has major attraction at the northern parts of India. There are rituals performed in the farms and prayers are offered. Women here do wear a traditional wear.

13) Diwali

Not only just in India, certainly this festival is celebrated in various parts of the world. This 5 day festival gives us the message of good over evil. A lot of gifts are exchanged and pujan is also done. There is also Laxmi pujan whereas Goddess of wealth is worshipped.

14) Christmas

Worth to see is the bright decorations and lights everywhere. Even the mass prayers and bringing in the New Year is altogether a different charm. This festival is generally a mark to celebrate the birthday of Lord Jesus.
