New generation of Porsche 911 Cabriolet officially launched

The new generation of the Porsche 911 Cabriolet, codenamed 992 (i.e. the Cabriolet version), has been officially unveiled with official photos and price announcements, with two models available: the 911 Carrera S Cabriolet and the 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet. Like its predecessors, the new Porsche 911 Cabriolet is designed with a soft-top convertible, which can be opened/closed in 12 seconds.

In terms of appearance, the new Porsche 911 Cabriolet continues the main design features and body lines of the 911 model line. At the front, the oval headlight cluster is the most obvious and recognizable feature. Compared to the previous generation 911 (code 991), the front surround of the new Porsche 911 is more rounded, and the rectangular front air intake adds stiffness to the new car. In addition, compared to the hardtop 911, the new Porsche 911 Cabriolet has a more pronounced bulge at the rear above the hood to provide storage space when the top is open, a design similar to that of previous generations of the 911 Cabriolet.

At the rear, the new 911 adopts the latest Porsche family style through-headlights, which are flatter and slimmer and have a sharp look. In addition, the new rear surround is wider and more square in shape, giving a heavy visual effect. The black trim panel at the bottom is rectangular and echoes the air inlet at the front, while the license plate mount and the bilateral two-exit exhaust are also integrated into it for a more prominent sense of hierarchy.

Inside, the new Porsche 911 Cabriolet also features the same design as the hardtop version. The new car inherits the five-link instrument cluster from previous generations of the 911, but except for the central tachometer, which is a mechanical pointer, the four dials on the left and right sides have been upgraded to LCD screens, displaying information such as hourly speed, water temperature, oil temperature, and fuel level. At the same time, the new car is equipped with a new style three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and electronic gear knob, while the central air conditioning vents and air conditioning control area have also been moved to the corner of the T-shaped area of the center console in front of the gear knob.

Like the hardtop version, the new Porsche 911 Cabriolet is equipped with the first "Wet Mode" as a standard item in the new 911 Cabriolet. The system pre-sets the handling system by detecting the amount of water on the road and warns the driver that the vehicle mode can then be quickly set by pressing the corresponding button or, with the optional Sport Chrono package, by using the mode switch function on the steering wheel to enhance driving safety. The new 911 Cabriolet is also equipped as standard with Warning and Brake Assist, which detects the possibility of a collision between the vehicle and any moving object and applies autonomous emergency braking if necessary; in addition, the 911 Cabriolet can be optionally equipped with Night Vision Assist with infrared thermal imaging, Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Distance Keeping, Automatic Follow Start-Stop, Emergency Brake Occupant Protection and other additional assistance functions required in emergencies.

In terms of power, both models of the new Porsche 911 Cabriolet are powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 450 hp and a peak torque of 530 NM. In terms of acceleration and top speed, the 911 Carrera S Cabriolet accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds (up to 3.7 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package) and has a top speed of 306 km/h, while the 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds (up to 3.7 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package). The 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds (up to 3.6 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package).
