Ford's seventh generation Mustang debuts

BMW's high-performance flagship SUV debuts
The BMW M brand has unveiled its new high-performance flagship SUV, the BMW XM, the second standalone model in the BMW M brand and the brand's first hybrid model. The BMW XM is equipped with the BMW Group's latest plug-in hybrid technology, consisting of a 4.4L V8 twin-turbo engine, a high-performance electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery pack to form the most powerful hybrid system in BMW's history; its maximum power can reach 480kW and its pure electric range exceeds 80km. Production of the new vehicle will begin in December at BMW's U.S. plant and will be available in China, the U.S., and the Middle East in spring 2023.

Mercedes Benz EQS 580 launched at $54,950, gets 857 km range
Mercedes-Benz has rolled out the all-electric EQS 580 4MATIC in India for $68,400 (ex-showroom). The price sits around $66,100 below the recently launched AMG EQS 53S since the latter is a fully imported model brought to the country via the completely built-up unit (CBU) route. Interestingly, it is also cheaper than its ICE-powered cousin—S-Class—by Rs 5 lakh, thanks to a lower GST rate for fully-electric vehicles. The price gap increases further on the account of exemption of road tax for EVs in many states. EQS 580 is the third fully-electric model by the German marque in India after the EQC SUV and AMG EQS 53S. It is also the first battery-powered model from Mercedes to be locally assembled in India via completely knocked down (CKD) kits at the company’s Chakan-based facility near Pune, Maharashtra. In fact, India is the only country outside Germany where the EQS is assembled.
