How to drive in Canada for New Comers and Visitors
The need to know to Drive in Canada for New comers and Visitors Canada Canada is a country of law and order, driving rules are in the legal system of Canada. Canada is a place to drive, Canadians are kind, polite, considerate, and professional when it comes to driving, when I say professional in driving, driving is a job for drivers to keep the roads in Canada safe and to make sure that all laws, rules of the road are followed, that accidents are prevented and road rage doesn't occur on the roads in Canada. There is a zero-tolerance for drinking and driving in Canada, and that impaired driving could affect your driving performance, if you are caught drinking and driving, you will be arrested and charged with impaired driving your vehicle will be impounded, and your license will be suspended. If you want to drive in Canada, it's very important to read the driver handbook of the province you wish to go to and to understand the highway traffic act of the respective province that you plan to visit or move to, and it's very key to read the Canadian Highway traffic code. In Canada follow the directions of the police officer, the direction of construction road crews while the roads are in construction, and drive at a speed according to the condition, it is very important to slow down in construction zones. Be very cautious and patient with pedestrians on the road, yield the road to them and wait until they cross over to the other side safely, and even if there some pedestrians who are slow be patient and courteous. Be aware of children and most children aren't aware of traffic laws, so be very cautious in neighborhoods with children, drive slowly. Obey all the traffic signs, traffic lights, and be very careful for school buses and for the city buses, especially school bus which requires special attention and always stop for the flashing red lights if the roads are divided stop behind the school if you are traveling in the same direction with a twenty-meter distance and that's only for a barrier on the road, and if there no barrier on the road drivers on the opposite are also required to stop and not move. So when driving in Canada, drive courteously and respectfully that way you won't face any issues no what. Be considerate of the road signs, speed limits, traffic lights, and driving along on Canadian roads, be very thoughtful in parking spaces and parking lots. Be very cautious on the road and attentive on the road, don't use your cell phone or anything that distract you while driving, it's illegal and dangerous to carry a mobile while operating a motor vehicle in all Canadian Provinces, so In Canada, the only focus is your hands on the steering wheel and eyes on the road, not even changing the radio station, or grooming your hair whatever the task might be don't do it, distracted driving are the main cause of traffic fatalities in North America, next to impaired driving. As I mentioned in a previous blog, traffic laws are enforced by all three levels of government such as Federal, provincial, and municipal police from each level can enforce the laws. Street racing, aggressive driving, careless, and dangerous driving are frowned upon in Canada, that those who violate those regulations will face severe consequences and penalties. Keeping your eyes on the road is very imperative while driving on Canadian streets, and always check your surrounding, such side to side, from behind, and ahead, the more you look, the less likely you will not be surprised. Road rage does happen in Canada, however, the best situation is to avoid conflict and not to look at the aggressor, don't give any gesture to the other driver, just keep driving and if you are being followed to drive a parking lot filled with people or drive to the police station, don't go home, if you are in danger call 911 if the other driver tries anything dangerous. We are human beings, we all make mistakes, if you make a mistake while driving, apologize to the other driver, and say that you are sorry, it will reduce the risk of road rage. Avoid honking your horn unless if it's in an emergency, for example, if another vehicle does a dangerous act. Don't take other driver's mistakes personally. If it were to happen that another was too frustrating don't talk or approach the other driver, that's the job of traffic officers. If you have stress while driving, take a break, get fresh air and stretch your legs. If you are driving on a road trip for a long period of time take a break every hour or two so that you can be refreshed. Don't take your problems with you when you are driving. Don't compete or fight back against another driver which you consider which is a discourteous manner. If you are planning on heading out whatever the reason is, always give extra time when leaving home, so that issues won't arise. Plan your route in advance. Some of the most erratic and inconsiderate driving occurs when a driver is lost. Be Polite and let other drivers in front of you when they are signaling that they would like to do so. Drive in a considerate manner. Yield the right of way when it is courteous to do so. When driving in Canada if you are driving along, if you want to change lanes, check your mirrors inside and outside, check your shoulder by doing a shoulder check in either direction, whether it's a right or left lane change, use your signal and check again that the way is clear. Use your turn signals for a left turn, right turn, changing lanes, entering a parking lot, exiting a parking lot, entering a roadway, using your signal is very helpful. These steps are very important if you want to drive safely in Canada.
