“Are you crazy?”

“What’s wrong with you?”

“What’s happening to you?”

“Why would you want to leave the best country in the world?”

“Most people would kill to live in the United States. And you want to leave?!!”

“Why would you want to move to South America when people from South America want to move here?”

“Don’t you watch the news? Haven’t you seen all those people trying to cross the border into the country?”

“I don’t understand…This doesn’t make any sense! Something has to be going on with you.”

“Why?!!”

Something was going on with me — I was sick and tired of living in the United States!

After 11 years of living there, and rudely awakening to the reality — the American Dream was indeed a dream! Something to be experienced within the realm of sleep.

I decided it was time to get the hell out of there!

Don’t get me wrong! There is no country like America! America is indeed an incredible country. None like any other I have been to yet!

But I had outgrown it! Or maybe, it had outgrown me?

All I knew was — its dreamy promises, enshrouded in debt was no longer enough to keep me there.

My mind, body, and spirit, all yearned for a new experience.

And no words could justify my decision to leave — to friends and family — as I broke the news to them.

But my heart kept on telling me it was time to leave, and it was the right thing to do for myself at that moment!

It was time to start writing another chapter of my life, in another part of the world.

It was time for new experiences.

Armed with the courage of a bull rider, I confronted my decision head-on.

I went ahead and never looked back!

And now, I am here to encourage you to do the same — to listen to your heart.

To be brave and courageous, if you’re being called to leave to another country.

Here’s why you should consider moving out of the US too (only if, life there is not working for you, or your heart is telling you to move on.)

Better Quality of Food and Produce

I don’t know if you’ve discovered this yet.

But most American food, fruits, and vegetables are heavily laced with toxic chemicals and have been genetically modified.

The evidence of this can clearly be seen in the absence of seeds in the products you buy from the grocery stores/markets.

Almost all the fruits you purchase from the supermarkets will have no seeds in them.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a lemon, lime, orange, tangerine, watermelon… they will most likely have been genetically modified to eliminate their natural reproductive ability.

A selfish and greedy decision on the part of big corporations who want to take the place of the Creator, by eliminating, controlling, and commercializing the sale of seeds. A process that keeps farmers indebted to them.

Did you know? Even the European Union, has banned a number of toxic and harmful chemicals used to farm and preserve the foods in the United States.

Word on the street is, even Russia has banned genetically modified foods.

As someone on a wellness journey, I just needed to be out of the toxic and chemically laden, ecosystem of the US.

Besides, I was spending so much money on detox smoothies and detoxing, it just made sense to move on to a relatively less toxic place where I didn’t need to buy a detergent to wash my fruits, and vegetables, before being consuming them.

I chose to move to a small village town in Ecuador, where there is a budding ecosystem of local organic farmers.

Where I can buy my organic produce for cheap, without breaking the bank.

Where I can buy a tomato that actually tastes like a tomato and not some 3D printed tasteless thing.

Just FYI — yesterday, I bought 16 organic oranges for $1, and 10 tangerines for $1, at my local Mercado (produce market).

I truly feel like I am living in abundance!

And, this is exactly what I moved here for — to experience the abundance that comes with living in, and close to, nature. It feels good to say goodbye to scarcity!

Sure, I miss Jeff Bezos delivering my packages the same day when I order from Amazon!

But I’m happier saying, goodbye to Wholefoods, and their fake expensive organic produce!

Cheaper rent

I find that rent in America is super expensive compared to Central, and South America, and even in some places in Asia, as I’ve come across in my research.

I can definitely only speak for Ecuador though, where I am currently sitting and typing this from my $400 (water, electricity, gas, and electricity included) fully furnished apartment.

I certainly don’t miss paying over $1,500 for my basic apartment in the hood of Philadelphia in a food desert.

Or, paying $2,500 a month for an apartment in New York City.

Besides, as an entrepreneur, one of my goals for moving out of the United States was to reduce some of these basic living costs, as I navigated the tumultuous waters of entrepreneurship.

Affordable healthcare and insurance. As crazy as it sounds!

While I was in graduate school in New York, I used to have to pay $2000 (Yes. Two thousand dollars) a semester in health insurance to Aetna, before I was allowed to enroll in the courses for the semester.

Healthcare and insurance costs in the United States are insane! Most people cannot even afford them.

Here in Ecuador, where I chose to be. I only pay $25 (Yes, US dollars) for comprehensive health care insurance that could even cover surgery, if need be.

The tragic thing about the United States -where health insurance can cost you an arm and leg- is that you are likely to become sick at some point because you are constantly being bombarded by toxins in food, water, and in simple household items such as cleaners and detergents.

To make matters worse, one chronic illness could literally drain you of all of your life’s savings. And possibly, even bankrupt you!

Contrary to what many people, especially immigrants believe — The American experience can be rough!

To make matters worse, big pharma runs America, where illness is commercialized and commoditized.

Big Pharma literally counts on you being sick, for them to make money off you.

The cycle is sickening! Literally!

Think I’m lying? Now ask yourself- how many commercials of drug treatments do you see on your tv screens when you’re tuned in to a local tv channel?

It’s preposterous!

Avoiding Chemtrails, harmful toxins, and chemicals

In America, I grew sick and tired of being sprayed like a cockroach all day, every day, by those planes flying above, leaving a long white trail of chemicals in the air!

Information on exactly what is being released into the air, and on us, isn’t readily available.

But I know better than to trust the government and its relationship with big chemical factories. Companies that literally have to make money from selling toxic and harmful chemicals.

To be honest, I’m happier waking up to clear, pristine skies in rural Ecuador.

Instead of wondering, which chemicals I’m being sprayed with today.

Better for mind and body, anyway!

Cultural Exposure

Traveling and living away from home, does expose you, and give you the opportunity to immerse yourself in different cultures.

Learning, growing, and evolving into a well-rounded, open-minded person.

It’s a beautiful thing to witness how different people live, cook, eat, build, and interact with each other as a community.

Living outside helps open up your mind to shedding ethnocentric behaviors, and notions, especially, for people who think — there is nothing better outside the walls of America.

Better quality of life

Overall, leaving America has helped me have a better quality of life outside of materialism and consumerism.

I eat well.

I live well.

I can afford health care and insurance.

I don’t feel as pressured to make money just to afford the basic necessities, such as organic food and rent, because life here, is relatively affordable.

I can go out, and eat out every day if I wished to because eating out is affordable.

($2.50 to $3.00 for a decent meal, which comes with a natural juice/drink, a soup, and an entrée)

($8.00 to $10.00 for a meal at a fancy restaurant)

I can live relatively comfortably because there is less pressure on my finances.

My mind doesn’t have to solely revolve around making money to live.

I have more time and creative freedom to concentrate on building my creative projects, and dreams.

And I am slowly, building community.

I feel lighter and happier.

I can enjoy simple pleasures
