Why Travel Can Change Perspective
From my trip to Kos, Greece, I learnt more about myself than I ever had before.

Looking back at my holiday, now, I realise I had a trip of a lifetime. It was a normal family holiday that became an adventure that I will treasure in my heart forever. Many of you will be accustomed to enjoying a holiday by lying on a sunbed from dawn till dusk or strolling through nearby towns, but I've learnt that the best holiday comes from living in the present and meeting extraordinary people that show you life from a different perspective.
On arrival to Kos, my family and I were dropped off at our hotel which was extremely beautiful. I won't lie, the first week of our holiday I spent reading books and jumping in the pool (the usual holiday activities!) whilst taking in the incredible landscape that surrounded me. During this week, we watched the entertainment team dance and laugh around the stage whilst external acts would perform. Their enthusiasm and positivity towards both the acts and the audience were admirable, even after a long day programme. This team created an atmosphere that I had never seen before and they even managed to draw in my sister and I for our second week abroad (something that is not easily done!). Every day, we would play volleyball and sometimes water polo, join in with AguaGym, drive go-karts, or even go out to sea on the "Crazy Sofa" (I had tried things that I had never done before!). However many activities we did or jokes we shared, nothing could change what I learnt from this experience. This team taught me what life was truly about.
For several years, I have continued in the same routine. School, revision, sleep, throw in a couple of exams and holidays, and there you have my life. Now I feel different, I learnt from this entertainment team that you should always enjoy what you are doing, to the point where work is something you love. We should treasure every day that we spend with our friends and family; make our own sunshine and travel to see the extraordinary world that we live in. All of the members of this team were fairly young (around 18-27) and seemed so carefree. I admired their bravery for traveling away from their family to work (some of them completely alone) and for also communicating in different languages, something which I am passionate about. These people have inspired me to work towards things which I love (like languages!) rather than following the normal boring school routine (something which I could talk a lot about!).
So, although this is only part of the experience I had and however difficult it is to explain and express my feelings about it, I hope you always try to take as much as you can from your travels and forever live in the present.
