Uganda At The Equator - Water Experiment

Coriolis Effect

Uganda At The Equator - Water Experiment | Coriolis Effect β–Ί What if I've told you that 13 countries in the world are on the Equator. In any of them, you'll find this demonstration: A water experiment showing the Coriolis Effect (water flowing in different directions in different hemispheres). In 2019 I visited Uganda where I had the privilege to see this demonstration. You'll find this experiment particularly interesting if you like physics, geography and random curious facts.

Having a picture from the Greenwich Meridian (Prime Meridian), I just had to take a picture from the Equator as well!

When the Sun is directly above the Earth's Equator (approximately March 20 and September 23), sunlight shines perpendicular to the Earth's axis of rotation, and all latitudes have a 12-hour day and 12-hour night. On and near the Equator sunlight comes from almost directly above every day year-round, and thus the Equator has a rather stable daytime temperature the whole year.

What about UGANDA? The country is located in the East part of Africa. Beginning in 1894, the area was ruled as a protectorate by the UK, who established administrative law across the territory. Uganda gained independence from the UK on 9 October 1962. The period since then has been marked by violent conflicts, military dictatorship and a lengthly Civil War.

The official languages are English and Swahili, so you will not have issues communicating with the locals.

In addition to the Equator, Uganda has beautiful landscapes.

The interesting thing is that this video turned out to be quite controversial. While some people were amazed, quite a few thought this is a scam. They mentioned so many things as proof, some you would not even think about- the water containers are different, the man purs the water in different directions, the water is not still, the effect is a sham, the effect is real but you cannot "feel it" (see the results) in such a short distance from the Equator.

I will leave it to you to decide. Do your research, watch other videos, go to one of the countries if you have to, but one thing is for sure- this video is mind-blowing.

You do not need to go to Uganda to see this "event". Here are few more countries that where you can check that phenomenon: Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, UGANDA, Kenya, Somalia, Indonesia, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Sao Tome.

The funny thing is that if you go to Uganda, you will most likely see the same person explaining this experiment, as the guy has been there for over 10 years.

As my nature of travelling is not just visiting places but connecting with them and exploring, I learned a few foreign words, just the basics. That includes THANK YOU and you can see at the end of the video how I came back to Kalundji to thank him in his language. He looked grateful.

Are you a curious person? You will love the videos I make as there is something random to learn from every single video.
