Sightseeing in the beautiful North Africa country

Marrakesh medina is a major tourist attraction. Medina of Marrakesh is the old Islamic capital. The old city begins at the Djemma el-fna Square. At the square you can see snake charmers and acrobats and hear traditional musicians. You can purchase items from the stall vendors.

Medina is a maze of alleyways and small shops.

Chefchaouen is a hill town in the Rif Mountains. Visitors enjoy the colorful architecture.

It is also one of the main hiking and trekking destinations and a starting point for walks in the Rif Mountains. The craggy peaks are surrounded by palm groves and arid plains. There are many trails for hikers, bikers, and day walkers. The main bases to start from are Chefchaouen and Tetouan.

There are great trekking trails in Talassemtane National Park with its cedar and fir forest-covered mountain slopes. There are gorges and valley with natural beauty all around.

Erg Chebbi’s Dunes are a primary destination for dune-surfing, four-wheel-drive dune-bashing, and sunrise and sunset camel trekking. Overnight stays are arranged in a tented desert camp. Visitors enoy the splenor of the sand dunes and the star-filled Sahara sky at night.

The city of Fes is a cultural destination. Its medina, Fes el Bali is a maze of back alleyways.

In the souqs area you'll find tanneries with huge vats of colored dyes.

Ait Ben Hadou is a golden-stone adobe ksar (fortified village) with orange-hued turrets and winding lanes. Due to its surreal beauty it has become a favorite Hollywood film location.

Essaouira is a lovely seaside town. In the 1970s it became a hippie hangout. The town still has a bohemian atmosphere and is one of the artistic centers of Morocco.

Its seafront medina has fortifies walls and winding lanes. You can see art galleries, boutiques, cafes, and restaurants as well as traditional souq shopping. You can take walks along the beach, sunbathe, and even surf.

Volubilis is the number one Roman-era ruin in Morocco and a famous historic site. There are tumbled columns and remains of temples. The highlight is the clutch of intricate mosaic floors left among the ruins.

At this hilltop location you can get fantastic views of the surrounding countryside.

Dades Valley is one of the most picturesque spots in the High Atlas region. From here you can see the snowcapped peaks of the High Atlas. Tiny villages lie between orange colored cliffs surrounded by orchards and farming fields. It is most beautiful in the spring when the fruit trees blossom.

The Erg Chigiga Dune field is the largest in Morocco. There is a sand sea of mammoth Saharan dunes.

The major base here is the oasis town of M'Hamid. From here you can head out to the dunes on 4WD vehicles or take multi-day camel treks.

Draa Valley connects the southeastern end of the High Atlas with the desert.

Along the way to the town of Zagora, the road is lined with palm tree oases as well as beautiful preserved kasbahs and ksour made out of mudbrick. The villages are interesting to explore.

In Tamnougalt, the Kasbah des Caids has been used as a location for Hollywood films.

Tangiers is a major port city with ferry connections with Spain.
