The Whole World is Our Home
Are you living in a country where you were born? Some people never travel because they do not have the ability to do it. Not all of us will see all of the beauty of this Earth; our home. I am one of them for now. However, I am honored refer to two countries as my homeland. Ukraine was where I was born, (It was USSR at that time) and Canada is where I have been living for the last 10 years. I am still shocked over the difference in peoples’ mental state of mind in Canada. It is not easy to find friends because people here are just job oriented. I found my life very lonely here. And I am not lonely when I am alone, I feel lonely around people. They have so much fears that make their lives miserable. They chase some careers and pay for it by losing their health and families. They praise bad habits because they believe it is ok to smoke or drink a little bit because it helps to relax. While there is a fight to stop Global Warming, people continue to cause even more disasters with their littering and neglect towards our planet.
I wish they could see how nature is kind and merciful to us. Nature provides everything we need to live and be happy. Yet we cut its trees with no regret, put garbage into the ocean like it has some magical filter to clean all our “crap”. Nature can heal us if we let it do its job. We came from nature, and we will go back there sooner or later. Nature is our home, sweet home, that most of us take for granted. If I could, I would hug all of the Earth, so it would feel that people can not just use it but love it. Just being in nature brings me a great peace, it always renews my energy and it makes me feel like I am home.
Photography is my hobby and nature is my model. It is so beautiful and mysterious. We know so much about it, yet we know nothing. Everyday I find something new to be amazed with. To be able to capture the world around us is a beautiful gift. Mesmerizing sunsets and astonishing mornings that can take your breath away. Fresh wind in a hot sunny day brings so much relief. Songs from morning birds make my day, and sounds of crickets make any evening romantic.
We are so divided by nations, religions, colors, mindsets, and I will never understand it. It is so weird that in the current year of 2020, because of some Chinese virus, people started to see that we are in it together. And before this we were not together? Guess what…we were because we are all living on this Earth. It is so sad that for humanity to understand it, nature needs to send a virus that is deadly for vulnerable people. Is it not a serious message from nature to us? Is it not time to finally stop chasing illusionary happiness; such as money and power? Without health, money and power are nothing. Once you lose your wellbeing, you would sell all possessions and spend everything just to recover your health. We are all citizens of one incredible world. There is too much division and fighting over territories. We do not own land; we are just renters here. We rent for sometime (until our death) and then we pass everything on to the next generation. I am thinking a lot about what our planets next generations will inherit after us. And I do not have much good that comes to mind. It looks like they will see a beautiful world, how it was, just from pictures. This generation, with a great confidence, is destroying the world around them. I can talk about this topic for hours, days or even weeks, but my talking will not change much; my actions can.
By capturing the world, I would like to emphasize the importance of not only just seeing nature around us, but also paying careful attention for creatures on this earth that have equal rights to live here. We cannot go to the forest and leave our garbage there. Animals do not do it to us. A beautiful and happy future depends on each of us; so, guess what again? Yes, we are in it together. We need to support health, not just for ourselves, but also for the nature that is around us. Harmony between human beings and nature will bring a great peace; that we all need. One thing to remember is that the whole world is our home.
Canada is a very beautiful country. This photo I made when we were driving near fields. I borrowed a NIKON D5500 camera for this purpose. It was a very good experience with that device, and it was my first time using it. Shot 1/2000 sec., f/8 18mm, ISO 220. This image has no filters.
