In the cursed forest, Elara must face the eerie whispers and a creature born of shadows

The Forest of Whispers

The Forest of Whispers was not a place anyone entered lightly. Even in daylight, it was a place of twisted trees, eternal fog, and strange sounds that seemed to come from nowhere. Legends told of travelers who ventured in and never returned, their voices forever joining the whispers in the wind.

Elara stood at the forest’s edge, feeling the weight of her decision. She knew the path ahead was dangerous, but something inside her—perhaps the crystal—urged her forward. She took a deep breath and stepped into the shadows

The deeper she ventured, the stranger the forest became. The trees were unnaturally tall, their branches twisting into shapes that seemed almost...alive. Every now and then, Elara would hear faint whispers, as if the wind itself was speaking to her. At first, she ignored them, but soon, the whispers grew louder, forming words she could barely make out

Elara… Elara… why do you come?

She spun around, her hand on her dagger, but saw nothing. Her heart raced as she realized she wasn’t alone. But it wasn’t just the whispers that made her uneasy. There was something...watching her. She could feel eyes on her, hidden among the shadows, following her every move

As the hours passed, Elara came across a massive tree at the heart of the forest. Its bark was black as night, and its roots stretched out like claws digging into the earth. In its hollow trunk, she found a stone altar, overgrown with vines and moss. On the altar sat an ancient tome, its pages worn and yellowed with age

When she touched the book, the crystal in her pocket began to glow faintly. The whispers intensified, and suddenly, the forest around her seemed to come alive. Shadows moved, shifting and swirling, forming into strange, ghostly figures. One of them stepped forward—a woman, her face pale, her eyes hollow.

You carry the crystal,” the figure said in a voice that echoed with sadness. The time is near

Elara backed away, her hand tightening on her dagger. Who are you? What do you want?

We are the Forgotten,” the figure replied. “Those who fell to the Shadow Realm long ago, trapped between worlds. The crystal you hold… it is a key. But it is also a curse

Before Elara could respond, the shadows swirled again, and the figures vanished. The forest was quiet once more, but the weight of their words hung heavy in the air. Whatever she had stumbled upon was far bigger than her, but there was no turning back now

Elara took the ancient tome and left the Forest of Whispers, her mind filled with more questions than answers. The whispers of the Forgotten still echoed in her ears as she made her way to the next step in her journey—an ancient, hidden village where a forgotten tribe might hold the answers she needed.
