The Aurora Borealis has always fascinated me, but I imagined I would have to travel to Alaska, Norway, Iceland, or some far off, far North region to see it. I live in Illinois, so those destinations all seemed a little bit insurmountable. It wasn't until I was staying in a cabin in Northern Michigan when the thought occurred to me, and I decided to do some research. It turns out, Michigan's Upper Peninsula is one of the best places in the United States to see the Northern Lights, besides, of course, Alaska. Girls Trip
This one might be a little taboo because nobody likes to talk about the tricky parts of traveling – difficult airlines, delays, etc. aside. Hear me out – girls’ trips are amazing BUT sometimes, they can turn into absolute chaos. We’ve all been there – a beautiful trip planned with your best friends and then *BAM* the drama tornado comes crashing in and rains on your parade. California Gold Country Road Trip
It is rare to have one day to oneself, not to mention four. So I set out to find the best 3 day roadtrip getaway that would be part adventure, part leisure, within a 300 mile radius of home. With 15 pages of printouts from every source I could find on the Sierras, I determined my route in part by room availability. Given the mileage I was aiming for, and the intent NOT to spend every day, all day in the car, I decided to leave the Southern Tahoe, Carson City area to another trip. But the Eastern Sierras and Highway 395, touted as an area not to miss, were beckoning me.
