solo travel
You've got somewhere to go, but no one to go with; solo travel is the nexus of independence and opportunity.
Ancestral Voyage.
A year ago, I developed pain, warmth, and swelling in my right arm after a heart cath. For 3 days I attempted to treat the pain with a cool compress and pain medication. I figured it was just pain from the heart cath. I had them before, never through the artery in my wrist. I didn’t want to miss my granddaughter's 1st birthday party so planned on contacting my doctor the next day if it didn’t get better. During the party, my arm began to swell even more and turn red. My mother-in-law advised me to go have it checked just to make sure nothing was wrong. When I arrived at the Emergency room the nurse told me it looked like I had a blood clot. An ultrasound was performed on my arm and my artery was blocked from my wrist to my shoulder. One more day and I may not be here, writing this story about where I would go on a Solo trip. Before my hospitalization my answer would have been Walt Disney World in Florida which had been a dream of mine. But my daughter and son-in-law made that dream a reality. After the close call they didn’t want me to wait to fulfill my dream. After 47 years I finally got to see Disney World and meet Mickey Mouse.

Solo in South Korea
South Korea has become a hotspot for many foreigners to visit and even permanently stay. As the world became more globalized and S. Korea ousted from the shadows, people took notice and visited this bold, honest, and creative culture, which has molded Korea to be the vibrant community and near-perfect host for foreigners that it is today. Traveling to South Korea is one of the best choices anyone can make and below I've compiled a list of places to go to and things to do in S.Korea.

After The Year We've Had, It's Time to Get a Little Lost. Top Story - December 2020.
It saddens me when people say they could never travel alone. The word "never" implies that there is no possibility, and I always wonder why that is. Why not even consider it?

A Girl and her Bug and the Open Road
They all thought I was nuts! A single woman driving across the country by herself in her little VW Bug. But I saw it as the adventure of a lifetime! I'm no dummy, I took precautions: visible NRA stickers on my windows; planning all my driving during daylight hours so I wouldn't arrive anywhere after dark; a dangerous pair of fencing pliers under my seat; and a prayer for safety on the road before I left each day.

The Motherland Train
The landscape whizzes by the window as the sun sets beyond the pale blue, dusky mountains in the distance. The smell of strong tea wafts from a samovar on a cart down the corridor and is accompanied by the squeak of wheels and clink of silverware and china.

What If I Travelled Alone?
Many a time I've sat and wondered about what my life would be like if I was single. Not in the sense of wanting to be, but how things would be different had I not worked on and embraced the relationship I've spent the past 3 amazing years in.

Trip of a lifetime
I am looking forward to someday making a solo trip back to England and then traveling to Scotland and the Orkney Islands. It almost calls to me, begging for me to return and see all the places I could not see when I was sixteen. I would have to spend around two months to see everything I want to see. Picking out where I would start is difficult, but I think the Orkney Islands would be the best place. Starting at the furthest point north and working my way down.

Sometimes you're forced to travel alone
During my late 20's there was a time when I started to make some money but my friends weren't. Some were busy doing other things. In these fork in the roads you have to choose to do things yourself. If you don't then you're going to miss out on opportunities. So there were a few instances when I went out and travelled alone.

To Ride A Jet-Powered Broomstick
When I was growing up my mom hated planes. In fact, to this day she wouldn’t even drive me to the airport. We drove everywhere, every family vacation was a road trip kind of vacation. When I was a sophomore in high school my choir class took a trip to Boston, Mass. and rode a bus for 27 hours to get there. I had gotten pretty lucky, in my dated opinion, that the occasion never arose to have to ride in a plane.
