We saw it in the clouds
I snapped this photo at the end of summer in 2016 on my iPhone. My mom, dad and I were heading towards the beach. Which beach? I don’t know. All I remember is that we made a spontaneous stop on our road trip home to check in with one of my mom’s relatives.

If I were to choose one picture from the thousands taken on my IPhone and Camera on my trip to Italy to be my favourite, it would be this one. This photo captures a perfect frame of what we as tourists associate as the essence of Venice and tourism. This man has been working with his Gondola boat for his entire life, paddling families, to tourists, to lovebirds on a romantic date down the very channels of the city surrounded by water. His boat was passed on down from his father, which had come from his grandfather. These boats pass on for generations, and may undergo some fine tuning and upgrading for durability, they remain as important heirloom through the generations of Venice residents. These gondoliers line up at the ant docks situated across the city, and wait for the next guests to board the boat and take on this journey they have set sail many times over in their lives, making a decent living from it, and reproducing the very Venetian lives their fathers lived.

Take a second to think about Earth. It's a pretty freaking big place filled with lots of differences. We've got different types of animals that live in different places. The plant life is different in different places. There are people but the people are different in different places. There are things we haven't even discovered in these different places.

5 (More) Derelict Buildings of Belfast
Wilton House, Belfast City Centre Most recently used as the administrative offices of the RNID, this four-storey Georgian townhouse was likely built in the 1830s and was originally two separate dwellings in this once highly affluent residential area. In 1894 the two homes were combined into a single property which was then established as a hotel, Hotel Metropole. With 14 guest rooms, stables and coach houses (no longer standing), it was regarded as a first-rate hotel until around 1900, when the Belfast Technical College was built, cutting off the hotel from the popular green nearby. The building has been owned by the Ulster Institute of the Deaf since 1907 however has lain vacant for several years.

5 Derelict Mansions of Northern Ireland
Ardavon House Built in the late 1800s by the deputy treasurer of County Antrim and former pawnbroker Samuel Trimble, and set in mature woodland, Ardavon retains its pillared entrance and many of its original Victorian features. The house (which surprisingly is not currently listed) and its 5.9 acres of grounds have, in recent years, been sold for a mere £2 million with permissions for building six additional dwellings on the land. However, despite work clearly having started on refurbishing the main house, the redevelopment of the site appears to now be at a halt and the house remains derelict and in a state of bad repair.

Derelict Northern Ireland - The Former HM Borstal
Borstal: "A custodian institution for young offenders" Recently sold for a mere £1.2 million, the site of the former HM Borstal is huge—covering 43 acres and with numerous buildings, including 27 homes and various outbuildings. The site, which was most recently owned by the Northern Ireland Prison Service (NIPS), was used as a prison officer training facility until 2015, and also housed the NIPS private museum and a dog training section, amongst other facilities. In 2016, due to budget pressures, the site was closed, listed for sale, and remained on the market until July 2018.

Devil's Lake
Devil's Lake is a state park in Wisconsin. Located just 3 miles south of Baraboo, Wisconsin on S5975 Park Road. It is the biggest state park in Wisconsin and is open every day of the year, from 6 am to 11 pm. Nearly 1.8 million people visit the park each year, making it the busiest in the state park system. There are approximately 30 miles of hiking trail.

From Skidoo to Aguereberry
So after visiting Cerro Gordo we headed into Death Valley. Our first stop was at Father Crowley Point. The attraction here is the beautiful geological formations, their colors and the fact that the military practices in the canyon there. So much so that the canyon has been nicknamed the Star Wars Canyon. Unfortunately that day, because of the cloud cover, they weren't flying.
