A Great Place to Spend Your Summer Nights

SUMMER NITES

A great place to spend your summer nights!

*~*

So many people, these days are too busy to take a fun-filled vacation but when they do, they probably prefer cruising. Can’t blame them. You get the air, the water, entertainment, food, and sightseeing all rolled into one. However, as good as cruising sounds, it’s also restrictive.

Don’t get me wrong; there is absolutely nothing wrong with a cruise. In fact, I enjoy being on the water. However, as I said, it’s a bit restrictive. I’ll briefly explain.

The only problem I’ve found with cruising is that if you’re taking a five-day cruise, there are normally only two ports at which you’ll stop to spend some time. Depending on the cruise line and the ports, your stop could be a little as four hours and as long as eight. Eight hours isn’t that common, either, unless it’s the final excursion before you return to your home port once again.

I have a better idea.

There is an alternative. WILDWOOD, NEW JERSEY!

Whoa, did I grab your attention with that? You’re probably wondering what in heaven’s name can NEW JERSEY offer anyone!

Here is a little something about Wildwood. First of all, there is the beach with a magnificent, massive boardwalk. There are so many shops where to can choose that wonderful souvenir to remember your awesome vacation! You’ll also find several kiosks where you can enjoy an afternoon snack. (Or even have a quick lunch if you’re so inclined.)

Okay, so we have the beach, shops, and the boardwalk but there are so many other things to do.

For instance, there is a very large amusement park with more rides than you’ll probably have time to go on.

You’ll also find, located on the boardwalk, an arcade to try your luck at winning a prize. Hey, who doesn’t like arcades?

If you’re in the mood to see some wild animals, you can always visit the zoo. No, it’s not on the boardwalk but it isn’t too far away, either.

A zoo doesn’t grab your interest? Then try the nearby Historic Cold Spring Valley in Cap May, which is only a few miles from the Wildwood boardwalk. It’s the largest open-air living museum in New Jersey.

Want something a bit more adventurous? How about parasailing?

Oh, these are just a few of the attractions. There are enough things to do to please everyone and fill your day.

So, what do you do when the day is done, and the sun is setting? Go have dinner! There are plenty of restaurants in Wildwood that offer a variety of cuisines! There are many nightclubs from which to choose for a few drinks – most with entertainment!

As I said, there is something for everyone!

Now that I’ve grabbed your attention, and you know what you can do, you might be wondering where you should stay.

Should you choose one of the “cookie-cutter” hotels? You know the ones I’m talking about. Most of those rooms look the same! In fact, most of the buildings look the same. So then, why choose any of them? I have a much better idea.

SUMMER NITES BED & BREAKFAST!

The owners (Rick & Sheila Brown) of this one-of-a-kind vacation spot bought an old 1900s circa house and converted it into a bed and breakfast – BUT it’s not just any old B&B.

Each room at the Summer Nites B&B is different. Rick and Shelia created a variety of rooms to choose from.

*The 50’s room offers décor from the 1950’s.

*Same with the 60’s room.

*And the 70’s room.

*There is a room dedicated to and decorated with all things Marilyn (who never needed a last name to be recognized).

*There is the Beach Room.

*And last but not least, we can’t forget the Elvis Room!

Sounds like fun, huh? If you think that’s interesting, how about the fact that they have a regulation-sized pool table for your enjoyment.

Oh yeah, and vintage pinball machines to while away the hours. There is a jukebox situated in the sitting room which also has a piano should you care to show off your talents!

Let’s not forget the “Breakfast” part of the deal. The eat-in kitchen is decorated the old fashioned red and white colors.

There is so much to do in Wildwood that I just didn’t have the time to extend my vacation to see it all. Frankly, it was my first time there and I never expected to experience what a fun and busy town it was.

Let’s talk a bit about the owners: Rick and Sheila. Rick has done most of the remodeling by himself and did a magnificent job of it. You can look all you want but you won’t find a flaw anywhere! Sheila does the cooking and decorating, and I can assure you, you won’t be left hungry.

Summer Nites has a website you can use to reserve your choice of room. When I was there, I stayed in the 50’s room. The bed was so comfortable that sleeping came very easily. Yes, there is a tub and sink in every room, so your personal hygiene is kept, well, personal and private.

Rick installed a hot tub on the outside deck, and it’s one of the favorite features of this unique B&B.

There is so much more to this great vacation spot that if I tried to tell you all of it, I’d be writing a book, not a review.

I’ll end it here, then, with one final thought:

Don’t be surprised if Sheila greets you wearing her 50’s Poodle Skirt!
