Bojnice Castle
Located in the western region of Slovakia, Bojnice Castle was built in the 12th century in the Gothic and Renaissance styles. Visitors can tour the castle and see the Knight’s Hall, the Turkish Hall, and the church. The castle is surrounded by a lovely park with a lake and a zoo. This castle is known for its attractions, among them Castle Fairytale, the International Festival of Ghosts and Spirits, and the Summer Music Festival.

The Bojnice Museum is a national art and history museum.

Bojnice Zoo is the oldest and one of the most visited zoos in Slovakia.
Bratislava Castle

Overlooking the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava, Bratislava Castle is a lovely white castle. It was built in the 9th century. It features a distinctive rectangular shape with four corner towers and a central courtyard. The architecture reflects a mix of styles, including Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque. Bratislava Castle serves as a symbol of Slovak national identity and heritage and is home to the Slovak National Museum.
Cerveny Kameri Castle

Built in the Renaissance times Cerveny Kamen Castle is not far from Bratislava. It was reconstructed in the 16th century in the Baroque style. It is located near the village of Červený Kameň in the Pezinok District. The castle is home to a museum that presents historic housing of the nobility. Cerveny Kameri Castle has been the venue of different films like “The Princess Fantagiro,” “The Dragon Heart,” and “Cinka Panna.”
Devin Castle

Devin Castle is a medieval fortress sitting on a rocky cliff overlooking the meeting point of the Danube and Morava Rivers. It was built in the 9th century. The ruins of Devin Castle feature remnants of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Visitors can get panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including the borders of Austria.
Nitra Castle

This castle was built in the 11th century on the site of a Slav fort. It became the seat of the Nitra Princedom and Great Moravian rulers. Today it is the seat of the Bishopric of Nitra. The core of the castle is the cathedral with the adjacent bishop’s residence.
Orava Castle

The castle sits on a hilltop overlooking the Orava River and the surrounding countryside in the north of Slovakia. Orava Castle was built in the 12th century. Visitors enjoy exploring the towers, courtyards, and dungeons. The museum shows local history and culture. Many scenes from the 1922 film “Nosferatu” were filmed here.
Spis Castle

Spis Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the biggest castle complexes in Central Europe. It is located in eastern Slovakia, near the town of Spisska Nova Ves. The castle was built in the 12th century with a combination of Gothic, Romanesque, and Renaissance architecture styles. Highlights here include the Gothic chapel and a collection of medieval armor and weapons.
Strecno Castle

This is an impressive fortification that sits perched on a high rock overlooking the Vah River. Strecno Castle was built in the 14th century. It is close to the town of Zilina and is a mix of Gothic and Renaissance styles.
Trencin Castle

Trencin Castle is a fortification perched on a hill overlooking the town of Trencin. It was built in the 11th century. The castle features a mix of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architectural styles. Key structures include the impressive keep, defensive walls, and several towers. The castle is home to the Trencin Museum, documenting the history of the region and the castle. Exhibitions include historic furniture, weapons, pictures, and other artifacts, as well as a castle gallery, archaeological collections, and findings. The castle is protected as a National Cultural Monument of Slovakia.
