Borrekens Castle

Borrekens Castle is also referred to as the Castle of Vorselaar in the province of Antwerp, Belbgium. The castle is not open to the public but it is located in a beautiful park that can be visited at any time. The castle is surrounded by a moat.

Carondelet Castle is a well-preserved castle in the town of Crupet, built somewhere around the 11th century. It is one of the smaller castles and is an entertainment venue. People can rent spaces and hold events here.

Castle of Meldert is located in the village of Meldert, part of the municipality of Aarschot in the province of Flemish Brabant. It was built as a school in 1845 in the Gothic stykle. The school was used to provide education for the lower class population.

Castle Zeller is located in Bonheiden, Belgium. It was built in the 13th century and after renovations in 1885 it was designed in the neo-Gothic style. The castle is privately owned and not generally open to the public.

Cleydael Castle was built in the 14th century and has a moat. It is located in the Aaertselaar Province and was owned by the Lords of Cleydael until the 18th century. Today it is privately owned and sits next to a large golf course.

Gaasbeek Castle was built as a fortress in 1240. During the Middle Ages, the Duke of Brabant wanted to create a land that would defend the Duchy of Brabant against the counties of Hainaut and Flanders. It serves as a national museum. The castle contains impressive art collections displayed in lavishly decorated historical rooms. A remarkable collection piece is the authentic testament of the famous painter Peter Paul Rubens. The park that surrounds the castle is open to the public.

Gravensteen Castle is located in Ghent, Belgium, It was built as a prison with areas designed to torture people. In this mysterious castle with a dark past there are spirits roaming about and you can visit the medieval dungeon. The castle has a moat, massive towers, and fortifications. It is also known for having one of the best Christmas markets in Belgium. The gatehouse, ramparts, keep, count’s residence, and stables are open to visitors.

Groot-Bijgaarden Castle located in Dilbeek is known to be the venue for the Floralia Brussels a yearly flower show. Various components have been added since its original construction, including a gatehouse that was added in the 14th century.

There is a lovely bridge with five arches.

Horst Castle is an abandoned castle in Holsbeek, situated within the Hageland Hills. It is the place to visit if you love mystery and who knows what might be lurking about an abandoned castle that was built in 16458. While no one has ever lived in the castle, it is the home to a fiction comic book character – the Red Knight, a character created by Willy Vandersteen. you can stroll about the grounds surrounding the castle.

Poeke Castle is a pink castle in the province of Flanders. It is surrounded by a moat and there is a stone bridge. The castle and the park around it were declared to be a protected landscape.The park is free to visit, though the castle requires reservations with a tour guide.

Solvay Castle is one of the newer castles in Belgium, and sits on top of a hill. It was built for the Marquis de Bethune in 1840. The castle was purchased by Ernest Solvay in 1893 as a summer home. It is open to the public with amazing gardens surrounding it.

Wissekerke Castle in Bazel in the province East Flanders was built in the 15th century and has one of the oldest iron suspension bridges in Europe. The castle is surrounded by a lovely park that is always open, Walking the park makes one feel like you have stepped back into the Middle Ages.
