It had been months since I’d taken a break. City life was getting hectic, and all I craved was silence, fresh air, and a bit of green magic. That’s when I booked a 3-day Munnar tour package — and honestly, it turned out to be one of the best travel decisions I’ve made. From mist-covered tea gardens to peaceful lakes and spice-scented breezes, Munnar gave me a perfect balance of nature, culture, and relaxation. Here's everything about my unforgettable trip to this hill station in Kerala.

Day 1: Arrival in Munnar – The Road to Serenity

My journey began in Kochi, where I was greeted by the tour company’s driver. The drive from Kochi to Munnar took about 4.5 hours, but it didn’t feel long at all — the route is scenic and filled with waterfalls, valleys, and small roadside tea shops. We stopped at Cheeyappara and Valara waterfalls, both gushing from the mountains after the rains.

By early afternoon, we reached Munnar town, and checked into a beautiful resort surrounded by hills and tea estates. The view from my balcony alone felt like therapy — layers of green stretching into the clouds. That evening, I visited the local market, tried some banana chips and homemade chocolates, and returned to the resort for a traditional Kerala dinner. Simple, calm, perfect.

Day 2: Munnar Sightseeing – Tea, Peaks, and Natural Beauty

Day two was all about exploring the gems of Munnar. My tour package included a full-day guided trip to major attractions:

Eravikulam National Park

Home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr, this park is a protected habitat and a beautiful spot to witness high-altitude grasslands and rolling hills. The mini bus took us to a point from where we could see Anamudi Peak — the tallest peak in South India.

Tea Museum by Tata

If Munnar is the land of tea, this museum is its heart. I learned how tea leaves are processed and even tasted different varieties. The old photographs and machinery took me back to colonial times when Munnar’s tea culture was just beginning.

Mattupetty Dam and Echo Point

At Mattupetty Dam, I took a peaceful boat ride while looking out at the reflection of trees on the calm waters. A short drive away, Echo Point brought out the child in me — shouting into the hills and hearing my voice bounce back was oddly satisfying.

Kundala Lake and Blossom Park

Kundala Lake, with its serene setting and pedal boats, was a surprise favorite. Later, we relaxed in Blossom Park, which had walking trails, flower beds, and a peaceful vibe. This was followed by a visit to a flower garden, which had everything from tulips to orchids.

By sunset, we returned to the resort. I ended the day sipping hot cardamom tea while watching fog roll over the hills. It was one of those moments you don’t need Instagram for — you just keep it in your heart.

Day 3: Spice Garden Tour and Departure

On the final day, before heading back to Kochi, we visited a spice plantation — something Kerala is famous for. A local guide walked us through a garden filled with pepper, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, and even vanilla. The aroma in the air was incredible. I bought some authentic spices directly from the farm — perfect souvenirs for home.

We then started our return journey, and by late evening, I was back in Kochi, already missing the hills, the quiet, and the kind smiles of the people in Munnar.

Final Thoughts – Why Munnar is More Than Just a Hill Station

Munnar isn’t just a destination — it’s a feeling. It’s about watching the morning mist float over tea gardens, hearing birdsong before breakfast, tasting fresh spices, and walking through forests that smell of rain. It offers calm without being boring, and adventure without being extreme.

Whether you’re planning a romantic escape, a family holiday, or a solo detox trip — a Munnar tour package is the perfect way to explore Kerala’s green heart. I went in looking for a break from routine. I came back with stories, peace of mind, and a promise to return.
