Tastes of South Korea at Home (Travel from Home #18)
I ventured into H-Mart for the first time ever. A new H-Mart store opened near me about a year ago, but I had never gone in. Choosing South Korea as my destination for December gave me the perfect excuse to force myself to explore it. There was definitely a lot of food with which I wasn’t familiar, but I think I made some decent choices in the end. And I’m proud to get out of my comfort zone and try some new things. With my dietary restrictions and introvert tendencies, that’s not always easy for me (especially during a pandemic). I was astounded by the variety of food available in H-Mart and look forward to going back at some point to sample all the different Oreo and Kit-Kat flavors not available in regular, US grocery stores!

A Secret Sand Dune in a Green World
When we turned in the direction of the sun and sand, a gust of wind blew two startled Burrowing Owls across the road in front of us. How we laughed to see their wide eyes as they tumbled head over heels before they caught themselves to fly back into the trees. Then the road opened, and our eyes went just as wide, albeit with a different kind of wonder.

Introducing TwentySomething
I have no idea what I'm doing. And everyone tells me that's okay I'm twenty something, I'm not supposed to have it all figured out, just have fun! Have fun. Yes, lets have fun in a failing economy and society where I can't afford to rent a crappy studio apartment. The oceans are dying, the Covid plague has literally stopped and reshaped the world. I have not the slightest idea what I want to do with my life and even if I did I can't afford it having lived below the poverty line my whole life. Not to be a Debbie downer but how can I have fun? Why can't someone just give me useful, practical advise?

The Scottish Castle that Inspired Disney’s Film ‘Brave’
Inaccessible, except for one easy to defend path, the first time I saw it I exhaled. It literally took my breath away. Dunnottar Castle is spectacular. On the east coast of Scotland a few miles south of Stonehaven, the fortress sits perched on a rocky headland jutting into the North Sea.

Macchu Picchu
The sun wasn't even up when we stumbled our way to the first bus of the day that would bring us up to the mountain top where we would find the most mysterious of ruins left by the Inca, "Machu Picchu". We had taken a bus and train from the beautiful city of Cusco the day before, and this was the last leg of our journey. Now most people think that they have to do the tour from the city. They tell you it's too difficult to reach by yourself. Some even think they are doing something cool, and choose the tour that takes you on a three day hike up the "original Inca trail". It's not! The best way, as with every place I've ever been, is to do it yourself. Meet the locals, ask questions, spend the time to really see the true culture, not just what the tour groups want you to see.
