A Trip to California
There was one thing we did on the road that still surprises me. The white nurse in our van was sitting in the front passenger side and noticed a black hitchhiker. This was in the Midwest and it made me wonder how he ended up in an area where he could have been picked up and jailed as a vagrant. There was some argument about stopping the car for him (not a general vote, but not much support on the nay side). There were six of us, if I consider myself as a potential combatant (Natalie alone could have talked him to death), and that was also on mind. But we still wondered about what would happen for the rest of our trip.

I Love Las Vegas, but...
I Love Las Vegas, but… About 25 years ago, my Auntie had commented on the water quality in Las Vegas. She was sure the water was contaminated, with of all things, ‘Dead Bodies’, and so, she swore to never drink the water there because, obviously, it would not be safe to do so. She drew this conclusion, due to a pungent smell that came from the faucets, every now and then. I never forgot that she said that, and I wondered why the residents of Las Vegas would not hold the Water District accountable regarding any type of health hazard contamination. There was also, the time when my mother went to Vegas and complained about the smell coming from the bathroom area of a 5 star resort that she was staying at...Apparently, it was from the sewer lines, that are not maintained properly, and so, there was not anything the 5 star resort could do about it...

London is situated in southeastern England, lying astride the River Thames some 50 miles (80 km) upstream from its estuary on the North Sea. In satellite photographs the metropolis can be seen to sit compactly in a Green Belt of open land, with its principal ring highway (the M25 motorway) threaded around it at a radius of about 20 miles (30 km) from the city centre. The growth of the built-up area was halted by strict town planning controls in the mid-1950s. Its physical limits more or less correspond to the administrative and statistical boundaries separating the metropolitan county of Greater London from the “home counties” of Kent, Surrey, and Berkshire (in clockwise order) to the south of the river and Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, and Essex to the north. The historic counties of Kent, Hertfordshire, and Essex extend in area beyond the current administrative counties with the same names to include substantial parts of the metropolitan county of Greater London, which was formed in 1965. Most of Greater London south of the Thames belongs to the historic county of Surrey, while most of Greater London north of the Thames belongs historically to the county of Middlesex. I have very much been all over the place - I've quit my job - I seem to have closed myself off - I feel completely and utterly lost. Yet rather than overthinking about some random interaction, I had with someone on a train or drunk texting my ex-boyfriend I have decided on a third option - writing. Now, this blog started as a travel blog and in all honestly, it very much is still a travel blog, but it is also a space place for me to express my views and deal with the things currently going on in my life. Writing might not always be my first choice, but it does make me feel better. It gets out all the unspoken emotions and I can see them in print - I can see how upset, sad, angry and frustrated I've been over the past few months and I can let it all out because the other option is hiding in my bed and crying like the world is ending, and it's not and I really shouldn't be doing that at twenty-six years old.
