Weekend Get-away!
As most of you reading already know, I'm not the spontaneous type! But this week, I surprised myself! Aaron and I had been given a gift certificate last Christmas to the Byrns-Roberts Inn in Murfreesboro, TN for a one-night stay. I started thinking about Christmas gifts last week, and I was reminded of my gift certificate so neatly posted to the office cork board. I thought, "Hum, I wonder if there is an expiration date?". When I called, the inn keeper said "No, there's no expiration date; however, we're retiring in March." I replied, "Oh, I wish I had of known, but do you happen to have anything open this weekend?". And to that, "Yes, our Garden Regency suite is open on Friday". "Perfect", I said, "Let's go ahead with the reservation". I called Aaron, called his mom, we got all the details worked out within just a few minutes. This weekend was a perfect time to go. It was Aaron's birthday weekend and it's just before all of the Christmas festivities begin around here! So we headed out of town on Friday afternoon for some much needed R & R.

Back Home!
We just returned from what I hope will be my second home one day! Beautiful Destin, FL. The Gulf breezes, white beaches, lazy days, and time to enjoy the ones I love. It gets better and better each time I go. The memories of being on the beach with my grandparents is so vivid. In a way, I experience "home" each time I'm there. We've vacationed in the Miramar Beach area for so long now, I can close my eyes and see each portion of the road frontage, all the eateries, the beautiful homes, wow.....it's just incredible. There's a small beach front home painted in Nantucket style yellow and navy blue that is for sale. It's name is "The Beach House". For a small fee of $2.1 million I could own her. Yikes! But man, she's tempting. Very unassuming. The only Cape Cod cottage house in the mix of townhomes, Mediterranean styles, and more traditional beach themed homes.

Arriving In Alaska: I safely made it to Alaska! Both of my flights went as smoothly as I could have asked for. No screaming babies, no one sat in the middle seat, and I had some pretty good coffee at my layover in Seattle.

Dr Lachlan Soper Shares a Family Bike Ride From Lower North Shore to Eastern Suburbs
Score: 9.5/10. Gee what would make it 10/10? It’s only small stuff… perhaps: Children being allowed to slowly ride their bikes through the Botanical Gardens footpath, which is currently not permitted. Flattening “Heartbreak Hill” and the hill in Darling Point 😉. Seriously, I need to check out next time whether the kids can ride along Tivoli Ave and the Hermitage Foreshore Walk, rather than up Heartbreak hill and down Vaucluse Rd. But, I can’t say this often enough, this is a world class day out for a family that loves exercise and, views and the outdoors.

Pumpkin Sludge
My life was playing out like a sad country music song. I had lost my sixteen year old dog and my thirty-seven year old baby brother within three weeks of each other. Needless to say, much time and tears were spent grieving with family members. Mommy dearest and I were the only survivors left of my immediate childhood family. My mother had taken it hard when my father passed many years ago, but losing my brother was a different kind of pain. It was a shocking kind of pain that sends you spinning into existential crisis. I could see her questioning the worth of the rest of her life. She went somewhere else in her mind. The trauma was momentarily unbearable for her. Fortunately, I had an enormous extended family that helped me to embrace my mother throughout this dark time.
