I adore Carmel because it is so walkable. You can park the car and part ways with it for much of the weekend. It is in some ways the jewel of Monterey County. The downtown is full of tasting rooms, it is easy to get to the beach and there are some great restaurants. And the hiking at Pt. Lobos State Park offers some astounding views.

Walking Through History
Unexpectedly, I found myself walking through literary London, right past the blue plaque commemorating the Bloomsbury Group. On a foggy day, it’s like being back in the early 20th century; you can practically hear them scribbling away behind the white walls of the Edwardian homes on Gordon Square. Not far away on Woburn Walk is William Butler Yates’s old house, and just around the corner in Cartwright Gardens is where Percy Bysshe Shelley and Mary Shelley made their home.

An hour and fifteen minutes away from the city of Halifax lies the small town of Bridgewater. Emphasis on the small. As in public transit is a brand new advancement, a single main drag to speak of, and the Cinaplex Theatre being the most popular hang out spot for the younger generations. But regardless, it offers the best atmosphere for those looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. With the cozy streets, and the ginormous old multi-generational Victorian homes, as well as the much needed Tim Horton's on the corner of High Street and Victoria Road, Bridgewater is completely serendipitous.

You Can Surf in the Great Lakes?
A powerful crescendo grew until the momentum became too much to contain and it ruptured with a thunderous crash. As I stood on the shore, I listened to wave after wave break in the vast body of water that spread from the tips of my toes all the way to the opposite horizon. For as long as I could remember, on days when rain clouds filled the sky and wind filled the air, I had stood on that shore and watched the waves crash. But this time was different. This time, the waves were inviting me to have an adventure. And so it began as I paddled out on my surfboard.

I Am Adventure
I am adventure. For many of us Millennials, life is a little complicated. We’re that “still-figuring-it-out-whilst-pretending-to-look-like-we’ve-got-it-sorted” generation and in the midst of being suffocated by all the Valencia-filtered Insta posts and the incessant motivational quotes I think we lose sight of adventure. Real adventure.
