Hiking is a great activity for anyone who wants to stay in shape, observe nature, and also get some fresh air in their lungs. However, there's a lot of things that can go wrong. You could get lost, get hurt, or even just miss out on an amazing camera shot of a Bald Eagle.

Jokes About Pennsylvania that Are Funny Because They’re True. Top Story - November 2017.
Having lived in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania since 2003, I can tell you: the keystone state is a weird place. It’s basically Philly and the Burgh on either side, and in between you can find a combination of the states of Alabama, Kentucky, and maybe Texas, where many tiny cities are found. These tiny towns are not only suburbs of our two major cities, which are some of the biggest cities in the nation, but also suburbs of some of what I like to call PA’s “minor cities.” These cities include Erie, Scranton, Altoona, and the capital city of Harrisburg, where I grew up. All of that said, please don’t root for the other sports teams, and I say this well aware that people in Harrisburg will root for the Phillies during baseball season, and then during football season, those exact same people will have Terrible Towels as flags outside their houses. Pennsylvania is also seemingly the one state in the entire country that doesn’t sell alcoholic beverages in gas stations or grocery stores, although there have been some strides made in recent years, but most of the time, you have to buy your alcohol at a state-owned Wine & Spirits stores. And don’t even get me started on the Wawa-Sheetz-GetGo war. With all of that in mind, it’s not that uncommon for people to joke about my home state, and to quote The Megas, “some sting but some can’t help but ring true,” and then there are some that are funny because they are true. I found a website with a list of Pennsylvania jokes that I would like to touch on a little bit because, like I said, they’re funny because they’re true, but many might not know how true they actually are.

My Little Renaissance
The sun was setting over the Pyrenees mountains, as I reached the top of the Piazzale Michelangelo viewing platform overlooking the beautiful city of Firenze (I know english is Florence, but it just doesn't sound quite as good, so I'll stick with Firenze). I turned around, put on a rather specific tune on my headphones, and got my first glimpses of the city's panorama. At that moment, despite having only spent an hour in this far away place, I suddenly felt at home. Not in a classic sense of course, but rather — like the comedian Trevor Moore once so elegantly put — as a conscious vibration observing my little section of life.

California Love
I remember being a little girl, dreaming of living the big life in Hollywood as a huge Television and Film Actress. Actresses like Jennifer Lopez, Angela Bassett, Viola Davis and Angelina Jolie inspired me to pursue the acting dream. And over the last year, the dream had become something I realized I had the utmost complete power to make happen.

Up and Coming Camps at Burning Man
Upon arriving at the gates of Burning Man, if it’s your first time or your twentieth you’ll always be greeted the same: “Welcome home!” For first timers this will be the moment to get out of your vehicle, finally stretch your legs, and promptly roll around in the dust, baptized in what will be your new home. Freshly dusted, equipped with your map and guide, it’s time to slow roll down one of the main streets to where camp will be. After the gravity of where you are sets in, you’ve unpacked and oriented yourself it’s time to venture out. Perhaps on foot, probably on a bike to check out the neighborhood and the playa. Exploring the labyrinth of streets, alleyways, villages, camps and everything in-between can be overwhelming for even the grizzled vets of Burning Man. This year being my sixth year on the playa I found a couple camps who eased that excitement, gave me a place to chill and most of all, knew how to party. These are my two up and coming Burning Man Camps you need to find next year.

Not All Wanderers Are Nuts
Four years ago this week, I displayed masochistic tendencies. I was in the exam room of the local urgent care clinic with a foot that could not support my weight and X-rays showing a small avulsion fracture in my badly sprained ankle. The good doctor said to take it easy, use crutches, and ice it as needed. My response was “but I’m hiking to the Acropolis next week!”

Best Kept Secret
Sometimes there are things that seem almost too fantastic to believe. For example, if I told you that within a small area in Wales you could visit Roman ruins, Medieval ruins, early Industrial ruins, and see the birthplace of saints, Hollywood celebrities, and one of the fathers of the American Industrial Revolution, would you believe me?
