Multinational Christmas
I celebrate three Christmases. Christmas is dedicated every other year to the US, where I was born. It is almost as if entering a winter wonderland at Christmas time, as neighborhoods are illuminated with clusters of twinkling lights and Walmart Santas are seated on every other rooftop (any excuse for commercialism in America). However, my Christmas is not spent in a magnificently embellished house such as these. My grandmother refuses to take down the elephant paintings and Zulu warrior shields hung proudly on her walls representing her South African heritage, and the extent of her decorating is a Christmas tumbleweed (seriously) rather than a tree. So instead of spending Christmas with snowmen, I spend it on safari.

Amsterdam
When I first said I was going to visit Amsterdam, many people thought I going there purely to get stoned. I did try the stone cakes and cannabis ice cream, but I think they're a waste of money. Not only did they not taste very nice, but they also didn't make me high. Maybe there wasn't enough to get me high or maybe I'm just that crazy that they have no effect on me. Drugs aside, I mainly went to Amsterdam to meet up with a friend who lives in Eindhoven. Another thing that Amsterdam is famous for is its lively red-light district. It's the perfect place for a stag do.

A Third Culture
A third culture individual is someone who was raised outside or spent a considerable amount of their formative years in a culture different from their parents; in other words, me. Being born in Bangladesh in 1998, my name was true to my rich Bengali heritage, Nandita. It meant loved by all, which my mother deemed fitting for a baby girl who arrived earlier than she was supposed to. Before I knew it, I could think for myself and had successfully internalized, like most children, my own name, along with the numerous embarrassing nicknames. I never gave a second thought to the deep connection I established already to the unique sound of familiar voices articulating the centuries old arrangement of three handy vowels and four consonants.

Dordrecht
Introduction In my trip to the Netherlands last year, Dordrecht was one of the many lovely places I went to for the day. It's an old city with a strong economy located in the south of Holland and is a place that not many people outside of The Netherlands have heard of very much, but it's easy to find lots of information about the area with a simple google search. It's technically an island, but because of the strong transport links and because it's not very isolated, it doesn't feel like an island. I think it's a shame that not many people know about the place, and I think it looks like a lovely place to live.

The Handmade Bracelets
Until this day I’m trying to figure out where my head was when I almost made 4 people miss an international flight over some handmade bracelets. It was the last morning my family and I were in Cancun before it was time to go back home. During one of our first days there, I came across someone making these custom, handmade bracelets for about five USD. Unfortunately, at that exact time, I only had one made, but I wanted more, and both my family and I knew that before we left that was the one thing I wanted to go back and buy.
