Trout depend on cold water to survive. Our waters are cold; trout flourish in Montana. Brook Trout are the easiest to catch but the most sensitive to water temperature; their population begins to diminish in waters that exceed 68 degrees F., Montana's other species of trout are comfortable at slightly warmer temps. Many fishermen feel that the wary Brown Trout is the most difficult to catch.

Sacred Stones
In 1806, while on their historic journey across Montana, the Lewis and Clark Expedition encountered several signs of the first inhabitants of this great land. Pictographs and petroglyphs were inscribed on rock faces by the tribes that lived in this area as well as nomadic tribes that followed the bison herds across the Great Plains. How I was able to see the Northern Lights in Michigan. Third Place in Outdoor Shots Challenge.
The Aurora Borealis has always fascinated me, but I imagined I would have to travel to Alaska, Norway, Iceland, or some far off, far North region to see it. I live in Illinois, so those destinations all seemed a little bit insurmountable. It wasn't until I was staying in a cabin in Northern Michigan when the thought occurred to me, and I decided to do some research. It turns out, Michigan's Upper Peninsula is one of the best places in the United States to see the Northern Lights, besides, of course, Alaska. If you, like me, dream of seeing the dancing lights in the sky, stay tuned for a few tips.

Run

I've always wondered what I'd do if I wanted to run from my life and start something new.
