My Hometown Is a Feeling
I spent 19 years of my life in Gdansk (Tricity) before moving permanently to London. Every corner of this city reminds me of something. Every spot brings back specific childhood memories. Every beach entrance reminds me of a different struggle little me was facing back in the days. When I think of a particular street, I remember the last time I was there. I can feel the temperature, get into the exact mood, and almost feel how weirdly short my hair was.

A Multicultural Experience in Southern California
The new year is off to a hopeful start, with the COVID-19 vaccine finally making its rounds across America, as well as the rest of the world! We may soon be able to travel safely by airplane again! But if you’re like me, and cabin fever is getting the best of you, a road trip may be just the thing to keep you sane. I loved that I didn’t need to leave California to experience world cultures, as California really is a melting pot. Please note that with the steady increase of coronavirus cases -- especially in Southern California -- all activities listed here are not guaranteed to still be open now. Please do your due diligence to find out if they are before heading on your adventure, and be sure to wear a mask properly at all times.

Mikey’s Adventure
1/22/2021 for vocal.media Little Black Book “Hey Mom. How long are we going to have to stay here? It’s getting kind of boring and nobody wants to listen to my stories anymore.” Mikey sighed and looked his mom with a hopeful expression. “Well, we have to wait until we get the next deposit in the bank. We kind of ran short last month and had to play catch up this month. Can you be patient for another two weeks or so? I will figure out what we can do when we get the money and we also have two craft shows these next two weekends coming up.” “I guess I can. I will try to draw more pictures to sell. I think I have $28 dollars saved up.” Mikey was such a good kid. Sarah was twenty when she had him. His personality drew people in since he was tiny. He was still small for his age and his beautiful brown wavy hair always inspired complements.

The Feeding of the Street Cows
It was the winter of 2019, and I was finally embarking on a journey I had been wanting to take for several years. I was finally going to India - the land of wonder, and the birthplace of yoga. Even with modern aircraft, the journey to the other side of the world is a long one. Our first stop would be Japan for a one night layover, then off to Delhi, India the next day. Arriving at the Delhi airport was nothing spectacular. Lack of help for arriving passengers and a dismally slow line to check the printed visa-entry requirements (it wasn't electronic) was the norm. Still, I was finally in India with my wife. We made it.

Home is You and I
Google says home is the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household, but that changed for me at the age of 16. I had to leave the people, places and the very things that I called home. Joy filled my heart at the prospect of being able to get a higher education. I packed my bags with things that would remind me of home in hopes to mask the pain my heart was also feeling.
