Kodachadri Trek: A Day Among Misty Peaks and Forest Trails

For me, nature has always been my refuge. The mountains, forests, and streams give me space to think and reconnect with myself.

City life can feel overwhelming sometimes. The noise, deadlines, and constant rush make it hard to pause and breathe. For me, nature has always been my refuge. The mountains, forests, and streams give me space to think and reconnect with myself. That’s why I decided to do a single-day Kodachadri trek with my friend Arjun — a short adventure to escape the city chaos.

Early Morning – Journey to the Base Village

We left Bangalore at 4 AM and drove to Hosagadde, the base village for Kodachadri. The drive itself was beautiful, with winding roads, misty hills, and coffee plantations along the way. By 8 AM, we reached the village, parked our car, and met our local guide. The fresh air, quiet surroundings, and greenery instantly lifted my spirits.

Morning – Trekking Begins

After a quick breakfast, we started our trek. The trail began gently through coffee plantations and gradually led into dense forests. The smell of wet leaves, chirping birds, and occasional streams made the walk magical. As we climbed higher, the trail became steeper, and we stopped frequently to catch our breath and admire the views.

Midday – Reaching the Peak

By late morning, we reached Shree Mookambika Peak, Kodachadri’s highest point. Clouds floated around us, and the view of the endless Western Ghats was breathtaking. We rested for a while, clicked photos, and had a small snack while soaking in the serenity. Standing atop the peak, surrounded by mist and hills, made all the effort worth it.

Afternoon – Descent and Reflection

After some peaceful moments at the summit, we began our descent. Walking down was easier physically, but required careful attention on slippery patches. By 3 PM, we were back at the base village. We had lunch at a local eatery and reflected on the trek during the drive back. Even in a single day, the trek was refreshing and energizing.

Final Thoughts

The Kodachadri trek reminded me that even a short escape into nature can recharge your mind and spirit. The forests, hills, and misty peaks gave me peace, clarity, and a sense of freedom. If city life ever feels overwhelming, I would say — spend a day trekking at Kodachadri. The mountains will remind you how beautiful simplicity and nature can be.

Thanks Rohit, your blog gave me a lot of guidance for my trek. I booked this trek with BanBanjara, but I didn’t know much about it before. Your blog cleared everything up for me.
